Dave this is genius, I'm sure I noticed during a test session yesterday that with the ignition on the gauge reads zero until the engine is started! The bord comp even beeped and showed a fuel pump signal at one point. I reckon you've cracked it!

Umm what happened? I thought you had a blue one that your boy crashed and then I thought you had a purple one? What happened to that? I havnt been around much over the last 7 months....Comment

Keep up!
Purple one sold to imp998 on here, bought this one off Astro, just got it on the road a couple of days ago.
How is your car bud?
Anyway, I just checked the pump voltage again and its 13v and 0 volts to ground
Dave
I Had a look for that ground tag but the S2 Avant looks different to that pic, there's a gound tag above the light cluster with 2 brown wires going to it but it looks clean and tight.Comment

Probably okay but I would remove the nut and clean the circle/ring terminals and re-install with sufficient but not too much torque on the nut.
Just to be sure that is not the issue.
Otherwise, you are looking at removing the sender and cleaning the segmented resister plate with a pencil eraser and then re-installing, being careful to nut get the float hung up on the fuel pump hoses.

Ok, cleaned and re-tightened
It's definitely the correct earth point because when I unbolted it the pump didn't run and I got a low fuel warning. (and a broken bulb warning and the tail lights came on and a bunch of other stuff!)
I'll see how it goes as the fuel level drops.Comment
