  • Engine Cut Out Around 4500 RPM

I have an RS2 ADU fitted into a URQ. At first it wouldn't start because of the immobilized ECU and as such I purchased a set of the 395 BHP chips. At this point the car started and drove.

My issue is that when the car gets up to around 4000 rpm, it starts to flutter for the next 500 revs and then seems cut out as soon as it hits 5000 RPM. I might also add that this is under wide open throttle.

I've connected a boost gauge and it is showing between 18 and 20 psi.

    Any ideas?
    Steve

If it's running original style coil pack with ICMs, I would do conversion to tfsi style coils first.

Does the Rev counter momentarily drop to zero ? Similar symptoms to mine where it was in fact problems with chips.

Two weeks ago I inspired myself after the car failed the MOT. Spending a good four hours fixing everything made me realise that work over the last two years had taken me away from my passion.

So, I am back to this problem. This weekend I will be:

                          1. Fitting new plugs.
                          2. Fitting new coilpacks.
                          3. Leak testing with the help of Mac2226 and his fancy smoke machine.
                          4. Reading the codes with some device I got off e-bay.

This car is so slow, I think my wifes Peugeot 307 would beat it in a straight line! I just hope it is not the chips after spending a small fortune.

                          Updates to follow.

PS AndyP, feel free to come over (I need to give you my new address) as it's been a while :-)

I had the same issue happen on my S4... the issue for me was the Tune. I'm running vems ECU so I was able to see the fault. But the car started to run lean between 4500 and 5k. I'd see if maybe a new chip or new ECU might solve your problem.
