Stroker oil pump failure

I think this is an another second valve, this one is on top. I cannot blow by mouth throught this middle hole, this valve makes it closed - oil flow from inside the filter must open this valve. Or its just some missunderstood - as i try to blown in by outlet - anti drain valve comes to play.Comment

I've stripped a few AAT/AEL oil pumps and have never spotted anything different to the Petrol ones, I really don't see Audi making the TDi pump out of different materials.AAT pump and ABY/AAN? pump looks inside the same. Same colour of material, no different details inside. Measured some clearance(im not quite sure what, im not engine builder) and builder decided to use AAT, but its was just barelly better. Idea was it whole life drive just under 4000rpm, and if items are the same, will be more "fresh" - i know it can sound bit simple, but...sigpic

Interesting. So if the tdi oil pump is basically the same as a 20vt pump why is oil pressure less on a striker when using tdi piston cooler jets?

Many people use diesel squirters without pressure problems, so the possible pressure issues must be caused by somehing else.

I have heard a few people have changed from tdi to 20vt jets and added between .5 and 1 bar oil pressure at idle. On my urs4 I use tdi jets and get 1.5 bar oil pressure at idle when hit. When very hot maybe 1.2 bar and it starts to get worrying.

I tested both jets, and its also written in other threads on forum. 20vt jets opening at 1bar, tdi opens around 0.4bar. So idle pressure can be affected by this slightly. And of course some of old jet can be jammed or faulty, then every theory is useless.Comment

I have heard an opinion that oilpump dies very quickly without that black antifriction coating on the backplate. Not personal experience. It was just about audi 5-pot motors.
...if I ever have to chose a better oilpump out of several ones withoout measuring tools, I look at the condition of this black coating at first.Comment

It's not the old head stud issue by any chance?Comment

Found that rubber boot/manifold on suction pipe/oilpickup , is the same(same number) on TDI and 20vt, but pipe itself is slightly different, TDI(034115251G) goes cca 2mm more to bottom = touching alu 20vt oilpan. The 20vt pipe (034115251J) is even equal with oilpan bottom, maybe 1mm clearance. There is still enought space for oil with rubber pressed on bottom(calculated area), but i dont want experiment now = Was used the TDI, now will be used 20vt.
I think coating on pump backplate is not kind of hardening ect, as seen on picture, there is some wear on pump plate, which will be used, in same place where damage happends on first pump. But i will not touch it, just let it mount as is. Dont have any other pump to choose, now.
And last change, will be the oilfilter without outlet valve. Probably OEM MANN.
newsh: dont know what are you talking about. I just remmeber, TDI has 12mm bolts, so we must drill head for that diameter + one hole is used for oil, so it was enlargered bit more. Is it what you mean? Using cheap universal M12 inbus reinforced 12.9 bolts, cutted to fill almost whole thread available in block(measured).Last edited by curamrdan; 22 September 2016, 20:46.Comment
