BTW, I have heard bad stories about those Magnecor leads. They give misfire problems under high load. Best bet is to use 7A leads. I got mine (ABT, German) from GSF. OEM quality.
Hey that fault code, might not mean a problem with the sensor. It could be a wiring fault to it.

They seem ok on mine at least. Fitted properly, I can't see how they would give any probs. They are one of the best made leads out there.
(Got 'em on three other cars too!).
Great, thanks for all this guys, I'll get a new lambda sensor and see how I get on.
Tom - yes that is a thought, it could be the wiring to the sensor rather than the sensor itself, hope not.
Re aftermarket HT leads: I had awful problems on my old 80Sport with aftermarket HT leads - I was convinced I should try Splitfires, and then Blue Igniters - the trouble was was with both sets of leads, the boots over the spark plugs weren't made to fit snugly enough and with both sets of leads, after a few hundred miles, one or more would work lose and cause horrendous misfires. I went back to the stock Bosch and never had another problem.
I'll do the Lambda first and see if it clears up my problem. If not, next stop will be dizzy and rotor, then HT leads. I might still squeeze a boost leak test in there somewhere, but it really doesn't feel like one to me.
Thanks guys, this place rocks!
Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...
Well, got the new lambda probe so decided to fit it this morning - a really easy job for a change, hooray! With no airbox to get in my way, after removing the 3B heatshield and my MAF/cone, I had plenty of room to work in.
Here's the old and new lambdas, can you tell which is which?!
Took me about 20mins in the end to swap the new one in and fire up the engine again: I took out the motor fuses just in case I needed to clear the old lambda error codes out of the ecu.
Here's a picture of the K24 and you can clearly see the lambda sensor hole. Loads of working room for a change.
Result: all my running issues have gone. Smooth idle, smooth power delivery, no hesitation, quick throttle pick up, full boost throught the rev range, none of that surging effect on light constant throttle. Fantastic! Happy boy again now. I may hold off changing the distributor cap/rotor for a while... Now all I have to do is fix the air-con again
