I have a coupe with a sinroof and water is in the drivers footwell from running down the electrical loom that then runs along the floor.
Would have thought roof lining to be wet though.

the recent deluge has shown my previous efforts have been thwarted.

    Bonnet pull grommet
    Door adjustment
    fusebox sealed
scuttle cracks found and sealed though could do a better job tbh.
    door seal replaced.

Only thing else is windscreen now or that trim that runs up that pillar.
Really DON'T want water freezing places it shouldn't.

Is 3m polyurethane sealer any good? Or should I just use the halfords stuff from a tin.

ok used tiger seal to try and smooth out the area where the bonnet pull grommet is and do a good job of sealing the cracks in the seam sealer...

      the leak is.....drum roll...
      WORSE!

also poured water down sunroof drains and watched it run out of the tube in the door shut. no puddle appeared.
poured it onto the screen trim top corner which has a slight gap...is that normal? no water seemed to appear.

poured onto the fusebox and grommet area...no puddle so. I'm stumped.
I'm getting convinced some ****** is coming and pouring water in it in the night when it rains to mess with me.

been chasing this for well over a year now and really had enough.

I am at my wits end here. Anyone know what branch of autoglass is a good one in london-ish area. Going to get a new screen fitted and had some really iffy experiences.

Having got mine water tight in the summer, it's now decided to leak again, so I feel your pain. I just lost my rag with it and started throwing things... but then of course you have to pick it all back up again I'm really fed up with having to check it every time it rains and make sure that a towel is in a strategic place. Really need to rebuild the a pillar trims again, as I think there's a little leak in the job I did over the summer... if only the cretin who fitted the windscreen hadn't done such a god awful job and bodged it all

Not an S2 coupe but a coupe nun the less. I have got water in the drivers footwell My coupe hasnt got a sunroof so i can rule that out.
I thought it was coming from the usual place (fuse box area) but after some investigation i realised it was a door/roof leak.
When i opened the door i could see it drip from the A pillar trim, then another day it dripped on my head as i got in
I pulled the door rubber away and found the pop rivits were missing on the A pillar/door top trim (car has had a respray and not put back together correctly )
I pulled the trim back and applied some clear silicone and re rivited it, we had heavy rain that night and it didnt leak
Hope ive cured that leak but sure there will be more

                  Hello,

Don't know if anyone is still in this thread, but I just got a 1991 S2 Coupe and the drivers footwell is soaking.

I will need to check the scuttle area for any leaks and check all the sunroof drains, but the door rubbers seem perished just at the rear of the door sort of handle height. Does anyone know where to get replacements?

Hi Seamus, welcome to the wet world of coupes Those rubbers are available from Audi Tradition. They dont really affect the water ingress much though. If the car has had a treplacement windscreen at any time then its also worth looking to see if the roof-A pillar trims have been put back correctly.

Won't help anyone without a sunroof and might not be the same for a coupe, but have a look at the post currently running for "sun roof drain locations". My leak originally appeared just in front of the passenger door and looked like it was coming from somewhere to the side of the dash. It progressed from there to coming in from somewhere near the grab handle and then when reversing downhill and the braking it ran into the rear quarter.

It has all stemmed from the rear drains of the sunroof tray. The front drains weren't blocked at all but the rears were. Certainly worth checking.

Leaking coupes seem to be a sadly all too common theme. I've been there several times over the near 12 years of ownership and reckon I've traced prob 3 or 4 different leak sources over the years and my last one seems to have provided the longest lasting fix so far...

I don't know why this particular site would leak but after having a good steady drip into my passenger footwell a few years ago, I set off in search of the solution to the water that appeared to be running down over the top of the plastic kick plate in the footwell.

Removal of the glove box to get a better view revealed water coming out from underneath the door seal.
I eventually found out that the rubber door seal is held into the door aperture by having a feature that presses into an aluminium extrusion that is screwed into the bodyshell around the door shut. The leak was due to the dum-dum seal between extrusion and bodyshell having failed. Bit of a weird one and the only reason I can think that this should fail is if over time bodyshell flex caused it to fatigue or a slight shunt caused a gap to open up?
The fix involved removing the extrusion as far as i dare and rolling myself a VERY thin snake of rear light cluster sealing dum-dum mastic and putting it wherever the extrusion would contact the body shell. I took out the screws that held in the vertical run and part way along the top of the door aperture and this allowed it to flex down enough to do the job, screws back in clearly pulled everything back together and that side has been dry ever since!

Sadly the photos i had of all this were on my old computer which got replaced last year so nothing to show.

If you have been chasing leaks like most here have and you can see no more sources, pull out your door seal and have a look if it is wet in the extrusion channel, you never know!

There is water leaking in the back of the s2 as well and getting in about the rear lights.

Any suggestions on how to stop this one?
