Have been looking on the Audi Sport Forum and noticed that the problem of leaking water into the cabin has also been put down to missing clips. I recall from memory today that I only have the centre clip holding scuttle tray and other trim/lip together, the clips for the n/s & o/s are missing - no duobt when the Audi Stealers did my last service and some YTS techy changed the pollen filter and mashed up the pollen filter housing in the process!!

I don't have a sunroof with my Allroader so suspect it's all about the scuttle tray/filter housing!

Just finished sorting the Allroader - removed the battery from under the scuttle tray and pocked my finger down the drain plug "teat towel" hole to release all the crud. Fetched the hose pipe from the garage and together with a sponge had a really good clean around the brake servo, air con pipes and walls of the bulk head etc. Touch wood I've solved this little issue. Although its been a warm day, the carpet is still taking time to dry out - had two old towels underneath the carpet to soak up the moisture.

As I said before, the carpet smelt of carwash/wax mix - I think I may have been too heavy handed on the hose pipe washing previously, so will have to take care in the future.

I double checked the fan area below the pollen filter housing and that seems to be spinning freely - so all being well, I don't think I have any leaves or other crud that's dropped down. Time will tell.

Just got to have a go at the S2 now....!

Well, the avant is good and dry now but with all the rain lately the coupe is definitely not. Luckily the carpet is out so its just a matter of sponging the puddles out..

I'm pretty sure the water is getting under the trim just above the window and running down inside the door seal till it gets to the bottom, then just dripping inside the car. I think I need to remove the seals, drill out the rivets and seal the trims with some silicone.. Sounds like an all day job at some point

I'm getting a bit fed up with this car

Bud, my avant had another leak in it two weekends ago. Thank god I found where it came from as the puddle was MASSIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you checked the grommet the bonnet pull cable goes through as this was source of my latest leak?

Try running some electrical tape over the edge of the seal you think is leaking.... All the way regardless of how long it is. That way you can eliminate it if the water is still getting in once you have put the tape around the edge of it all.

I know these cars are frustrating, water leaks, boost leaks, electrical issues but if you think about it, they are better than alot of others at the same ages as these. Hope you get it sorted soon.

Cheers, I think my bonnet cable grommet is ok at the moment although I should probably fit a new one.

Thats exactly what I did last night actually with the leccy tape

Good minds think alike.... Hopefully that will either cuire it or show its not that and eliminate it which will be good and bad. Good as you can stop thinking its that, bad as you will have to start looking again. I hope it cures it for you though so you can concentrate on fixing it properly

When I had a coup I spent ages adjusting my windows to create a proper seal. After months of adjusting to get it just right on the passenger side I moved onto the drivers side and went and smashed the window straight away when shutting the door! Must havbe adjusted it that bit to much!!!!

Must have been some stress there to break the window!

Well, with a handy downpour this afternoon and both door seals taped up there was still a load of water in the car, pretty sure now that its getting through at the front of the door at the black triangle.

Bilko, pop the inside of the door off and on the window frame is a small screw I think (if I remember correctly) turn it one way or the other to move the window into the seal or the other to move it out. Do it with the door open and shut it gently so you avoid smashing if you have moved it to much.

I did mine a few years ago but im sure John will be able to help better as he has just done his.

Good luck on not smashing anything like I eventually did!

Yeah, you have to take the door card off, 3 x allen bolts in the grab handle, one philips screw in the catch, one screw and cup washer in the end of the door. Collect the little rubber bits that stop the door card rattling including the ones which have fallen either inside the door or out on the ground I undid all six 13mm nuts 2 at each end of the top bar and one each side right down the bottom of the door and lifted the whole window mechanism up 2-3mm (I needed a little more lift at the front). Check to see how much it needs lifting by pushing your fingernail between the top of the window and the rubber, mine were quite loose down the front edge and near the bottom. Start by marking round the big washers under the nuts with a fine point marker so you know where your starting point is. Slacken off all but the top bolt at front and back, then hold the mech in position, slacken the front bolt and lift the mech slightly and nip it up. Repeat with the back bolt. Try the door and watch how it compresses the seal as you close it, see if it needs to come up more but don't over do it. Watch out with the bottom two bolts as there are U shaped spacer pieces which can fall out, they're inserted through a hole in the bottom of the door.
I didn't adjust the angle as it seemed to be fine.
