  • Water injection tank

As you may have seen from my project thread I'm fitting water / methanol injection to my car. I've decided to fit the pump and tank in the boot to try and minimise the amount of weight I'm adding to the front end.

The pump is now located on a bracket I made

I've decided to make a stainless steel tank to fit in the compartment in the boot floor

Here are all the piece parts I had cut from 2mm stainless steel

    First pieces aligned and tacked

    Baffles welded in place

This is the outlet supplied with the Devils Own kit and the filler neck I'll weld into place

I'm going to sandwich a piece of plexiglass in here so I can see how much fluid is in the tank

    Lid tacked in place

I'm going to try and get all the welding done this weekend and give it a lick of paint.

Very nice work, that tank will hold a decent capacity, any idea how much? Must be Three L +.

        That is cool!

Are you going to fit mounting tabs to the fuel tank bolts?

Yes, I'll weld those on once I can get it into position in the boot.

Thats a bit OTT, is it an optical illusion as it looks like a capacity more like 20 litres. I just used the present washer bottle for mine and top it up every couple of months.... Or are you intending to only fill it up once a year

Nice custom tank. Great size, you don't have to fill it every day. How is the weight?

                        Good work Andy.....

I only use circa 10-15% (screen wash) in line 5's dont seem to like a lot more than that, oh... from a .5mm jet...

Depends on if it's mapped to get full benefit of the water injection? I would go with 50/50 water meth.

I agree, but i didnt want to map mine for full out 50/50 more to give it some top end protection from detonation..

Full out mapping for it would leave me nervous of a blocked jet or other breakdown in supply. My preference is better cooling by physical means, inter-coolers etc and as i say a little top end protection from the water..

Yea, you need to have a quite secure fail safe system. http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...t=49425&page=4
