To quote Newsh (John?) on Page 3:

"There's an identical tang on the opposite face of the pin which is released by sliding a piece of wire or small watchmaker's screwdriver down the little square hole next to the pin. It helps to push the pin inwards first, slide in the pin tool then pull on the wire, take it easy, if it doesn't slide out easily you havent released the tang!"

You can also use a paper clip as shown in this POS pin swap photo:

Here is what the female pins look like when they are out:

                  Guys,

Great information and "how to" guide, I was having strange intermittent running issues and just cleaned the MAF connector and , hey presto, the smile is back.

With the age of our cars, these connectors would all probably benefit from a clean now and again, especially the MAF which is so sensitive...

                  Thanks again

                  Paul

                      Just to confirm....

I did the whole gritting and cleaning of the female contacts on my MAF connector.
After another of the multiple times that by wiggling back and forth the plug I had a sensible improvement on the bad idle and genral behaviour of my ADU.....
I did'nt have handy anything thinber then a 600 grit and I went gently with that.

The car it's absolutely different and I think I never had a so nice and smooth/prompt response on low revs.

A must do and dead easy job.
Thanks to everyone for the guides/pictures/suggestions.

                      Stefano

Once you've got the pins clean, I give mine a squirt with this stuff every so often to keep them clean

Thanks for reviving this thread Stefano. I read back and saw that I was going to add the info to my G70 MAF post .....and then I forgot. (Duh). As a result, I just did this post which I will add to my G70 post later today:

Nice one, my car is still going well but you've reminded me to spray a little Caig on the pins next time I've got the bonnet up

Thanks for your efforts on this thread John, I am now starting to get more consistent boost issues that "MAF wiggling" does not seem to cure. The car has been sat for about 3 weeks or so, so positive it is not a boost leak. Symptoms are same as previous times when wiggling the MAF has sorted it out, so now thinking I need to go through your mentioned procedure to cure longer term. Just need to go find me some of that contact cleaner you mentioned and some wet/dry paper. Being a fairly clueless home mechanic, any suggestions on best place to buy these items or is the bay of thieves my friend again?
