One of these with the valve built into the muffler?

I'd bet that you could use an electric boost controller to run it, directly or via a relay depending on what it did with the signal. There must be some sort of controller for the electric ones too. What I would need is a boost switch and a subsequent timed pulse in one 'direction' before a slightly longer one in the other, hardly rocket science for a sparky engineer. This would open the valve an amount between a little and a lot and then ensure that it closed when the throttle was let off. All good fun.
...
Just emailed them to see if they do a controller. QTP do one for their valves but I'm not sure what it uses as a trigger.Comment

That's fully open but you can change it to almost any position and volume.
Ideally, you'd bypass the rear box with one if these but space is at a premium.
Not really noticeable but it's a real rush with the noise so may just be masking it.Last edited by Rusty; 5 August 2012, 10:41.Cheers'en, AndyC

I made this a while ago:
Here is the solenoid valve that controls the Garrett actuator.

Instead of using that electrical switch, then just use a wastegate vacuum pump thingy from a diesel engine. (see my pictures). Get one that opens around 0.8-1 bar and then hook up a solonoid switch to your button. This way you can control air to the butterfly valve and if it is on it will not open fully before 0.8-1.0 bar. There must be some sort of controller for the electric ones too. I didn't buy this as a performance upgrade but more as something to just enjoy on the rare occasion where some extra character would be a really nice addition to the driving experience. I managed to give it WOT in 1st, 2nd and 3rd heading on to the motorway and it just sounded great and I also showed my displeasure at a caravan overtaking a truck on a 2 lane motorway
The switch location is perfect for simple operation - I'm glad I put it there and not on the dash and can always fit a spare ciggy lighter if I get rid of it...

I did it this way and it worked fine, I just used my eboost2 to control when the solonoid valve would be activated or not.Comment

Well I guess it just a matter of making it pneumatic, I used the same butterfly valve as you did. I ran it electrical first as you did, but never liked that solution.
So I just made the bracket that you can see in the pictures.
Anyhow if you want it to be electrical then why not simply use a pressure switch to control the butterfly valve, something like this
