I've fitted blue top mounts, konis and h&r springs to my quattro but my car sits way too high. I have seen this same setup on other quattros and they sit much lower.
The only thing I can think I've done wrong is that I tightened the wishbone to subframe bolts before fitting to the car, could this play a part?
Could be Sal, I've always been led to believe that you have to fit the wishbones and just nip up the bolts, then fully tighten after the weight of the car is on them. 1/ for ensuring you don't damage the bushes and 2/ so that they sit correct, ie height wise.
Can't be much of a pain to get down a loosen them off and retighten with the weight of the car on them.

I doubt the bushes would raise the level of the car. The reason for not tightening the OE bushes when the car is off the ground is to ensure the rubber isn't stretched between the steel outer shell and the center section when you lower the car. Are you using OE bushes or poly replacements?
Is there much weight missing from the car presently? this would leave the ride height high
Only things not fitted are intercooler, front bumper, no water in the rad and interior.
Its as though the car is higher than when it was on standard suspension!
I cant see these items weighing the car down by much.
I've fitted new wishbones that had new bushes in.
When fittining the strut assemblies I found the wishbones really difficult to move up or down
Doubt mine has settled down by more then a few mm , certainly not visibly noticable.
The wishbones should have the bolts torqued with the weight of the car on them which is not that easy without a ramp. But even so they wont be responsible for the car sitting 2 inches higher than it should be.
I'll measure it tomorrow but I've got 17s fitted so its going to be different anyway.
Could you measure the space between arch and tyre?
I thought you had h&r fitted?
Please dont mind if I steal a bit of this thread. One question as there are plenty of urq people around:
If one would like to swap urq struts to newer style 2 part (say e.g. s2) struts and also 01e 6 speed gear box conversion.. which drive shafts would one need? Has anyone done this? Outer cv joint splines are different but is also the length - so can s2 shafts be used?
I'm also very willing to resend this question by email if you can point where to ask (PM?).
Sal you really should loosen the wishbone bolts and re-tighten with the car on the floor, otherwise you'll just end up tearing the rubber out of the bushes as soon as you drive it.
If it still looks too high when you've done that maybe they've sold you the wrong springs.
