I thought I read somewhere that short shifts tend to cause premature wear on shifting components. Can someone verify this or shut me up?
I'd like the idea of the solid one but with the reverse lock as my wife uses the car as well and hate to think of what could happen

In general it's a big mistake to try and rush the gear change on these cars, IMHO
Best to be mechanically sympathetic every time, or wear out the syncro's fast.
I don't need or want a short shift, just an OEM shift without excess playRS2+ (now sold...)

The thing i noticed after fitting one of these is you have to use a little more force to pull out of gears and select gears which means you feel like your having to throw it between shifts rather than a gentle shove.
Not a massive deal but when your in comfy cruise mode it's a little off putting to have to rush the gear changes a little to keep enough momentum to shift smoothly. I've been thinking about weighting the linkage next time I do the clutch.
Already fitted one of andy's alloy knobs that weighs alot more than standard in hope of adding a little more mass behind it but didn't seem to make alot of difference frm that end of the assembly.
fitting the reverse lockout plate is a little fiddly but simple enough.Volcano ABY coupe
