Thanks. Answered. Mid-Oct. 94 build so the CGR seems to make sense.

The end of Oct. 94 was 00794 so maybe if someone PMs me their VIN and the transmission code (from their build tag) for an RS2 just above the 00794 VIN, we might get lucky and find the Nov. 94 break-point on CGR to CRB.

My car 94 RS2 has CGR on the tag in the boot but the gearbox itself has CRB stamped. It came from the factory like this.
                Go Holset or Go RS4

My RS2 is a 95, built in 94. As Billman's it also has a CRB installed, despite the build tag listing CGR.
I have assumed that it was replaced sometime between 1995 and 2001 (when it was exported to Norway), but since Billman's had a CRB installed at the factory, despite the build tag saying somethinge else, it could well be the case for mine as well.

Are you the original owner? Unless you are, I suspect that the original transmission was a CGR but it failed under warranty and was replaced with the CRB before you got the RS2.

What was the build month? VIN SN000nnn? (PM me if you want)

Maybe. I can't see them making a mistake like that unless it was on the day of the switch-over from the CGR to the CRB, in which case finding out Billman's VIN number might be interesting. e.g. early Nov. 94 build?

Would be interested in info on the DPH gearbox in my car, I hear it is a good gearbox, but don't know if this is an evolution of other gearboxes?

The DPG and DPH both have the 01E311105J (wider 1st but not flexible) main shaft. The CMG and DPJ have the 01E311105H (wide 1st and flexible) main shaft, same as the CRB.
