I just absolutely love owners who still treat them like they were designed for… Epic…

    Cheers guys.
Picked up a few bugs on the French motorway.

MPG was quite good in UK at around 33mpg. Dropped drastically when average speed was 90mph on autoroute. 26mpg at worst! Also not easy to find good high octane petrol out there and found that S2 tank isn't very big when mpg drops. Eek

Ooh. Forgot to let you guys know about the dyno.
I was running on rubbish Total 97 as that was all I could find on the fill up before. Marcus thought it would be good for another 5/10 hp on higher octane juice.

Not bad for an old girl

We arrived safely at Nothelle tuning in Germany.

The car back home after 29 years.

Marcus Nothelle gave us a warm welcome and was very pleased to see the car. I told him about my wheel vibration and knocking exhaust and without hesitation, I was up in his ramp. No problem said Marcus.

A short while later, the exhaust had been adjusted, all four wheels balanced and he went over the whole car to give it a health check. Amazing!

Then they dug out all the badges, stickers and wheel caps I was missing.

Marcus insisted on fitting the aluminium badge that should be on the intake. All full conversions must have this he says.

Then after giving the car a clean bill of health we popped over to the dyno.
This is at his business partner premises nearby.

    Then back to Nothelle.
The Nothelle workshop is very impressive and full of interesting projects.

Even older stuff. Marcus is a Kjet expert. Can I bring the Ur back?

With all the expensive goodies around, you need a special guard cat.

The biggest cat I've ever seen!

I also got to meet up with Rik from the forum who had driven for nearly 8 hours across Germany to meet up!

And we had a good chat about all things S2 over lunch on the Rhine.

What a fantastic day and one I will never forget.

Arrived safety on the French German border. Car driving nicely and returned 31mpg over nearly 600 miles. I have an annoying occasional knock from the exhaust at slow speed despite three adjustments to hangers before I left. Also slight vibration at 70 mph from front wheels ( despite getting them balanced again before I left)
Strangely all the indicators failed on the M25 first thing but came back after a few miles. I suspect relay. Recaro seats are brilliant on a long run!
    Next instalment tomorrow.
