My interior light switch was broken and I couldn’t get a new one.
This Coupe one is still available from AT for about €10. It’s almost identical but the housing is smaller.
So I set about swapping the broken bits over.





Now it’s all fixed

As I slowly fix things that aren't working, I find new things I didn't even know were broken! I took the car out fishing last night. It was the first time I had driven it at night and I noticed that none of the window controls in the door are lit when the lights are on. Shouldn't they be?

I also have something more serious to worry about. I notice that when I start the car one of the drive belts screeches. Both the PAS and alternator belts appear tight but there is a rubber powder around the pulley indicating something is wearing. When I watch the anti vibration pulley, its not running true at its outer end. You can see a wobble. I suspect that the rubber damping has distorted whilst the car was laid up. Any advice guys?

The grain of rice bulbs are easy to replace on the switches, I did mine a few years back. I got the bulbs from ebay i think.

As for the pulley, that does sound more worrying as at high revs its going to have higher forces i expect.

Apparently the old switch has been superceded and you can now buy new switches that have leds in them.

It’s quite common for the harmonic damper to go wobbly with age.

How many bulbs are there? I cant imagine they would all blow. I'm thinking its more likely a wiring issue.

Someone was selling one early this year on the forum coz I said Brian smith should buy it as his is not very good but he said it has been like it for years and I shouldn't worry. Don't know if it sold.

The one on my Ur was wobbly for years, eventually replaced it and it definitely ran smoother.
