Thanks for the comments guys I'm glad it's not just mine...

I have finished what I can do today as all the welding is finished, all the welding and bare steel has been primered. Once this was dry it has all been seam sealered on every joint.
This has then been left to dry all day with the heater on it.
And to top it all off its now had copious amounts of gravitex applied to dry over night.

Then Monday it will be primered and painted with crystal silver inside the boot and gloss black underneath.

I have also acquired a 1.5kg tin of genuine dum dum to seal the rear lip inside the boot and to fit around my all red rear lights

I found the majority of the coupe's i've had seem to go at the point behind the fuel tank in the little pocket on the passenger side. I'm not sure if the heat shields just holding dirt/etc as most seem to have fallen off by now or if its just the rear lights always leaking into that part of the car and into the section underneath the removable container underneath the drivers rear light (rhd models)

Holy crap! I thought mine was bad when I poked around underneath, but now it seems like a minter.
Lucky the car is in the hands of Tonks. I fear that would have been a scrapper for most. Top work, as always Mr T.

Thats a hell of a lot of work to get done in that time. Well done and you deserve a few Been getting some preemptive maintenance done on mine over the last year or two, hoping to avoid a massive job like this.

Good old Tom got cracking with the paint today while I was working on Land Rovers.
Now it's dry I have just dropped the tank in.
Once the little one is tucked up in bed I will go back down and carry on,
Here is a couple of pics for now...

Wow. I had no idea that the S2 fuel tank was not between the rear wheels like a C4. How many rear-end accidents end in a fireball (thinking Ford Pintos)?

The good news is changing the fuel pump must be a piece of cake.

Never thought about rear impacts but guess I will not be around to worry if it happens lol

                              A little about tonight's tasks....

While everything is out is a good opportunity to do the relay mod on the fuel pump so that it gets a higher voltage.

And while I am this far in I may aswel sort some other niggly issues!
So the rear quarter card came out to inspect why the central locking has stopped working. I found that the pump had just died so swapped that out and all the doors lock as they should.

While this was out I have now fitted the later style B pillars with the infrared sensors so that I can wire in the factory remote locking at some point to get rid of the aftermarket stuff.

And seeing as the quarter card is out I felt that now is a good time to fit the switches for a later upgrade that I have planned.
I have opening rear windows and its rubbish that rear passengers can't open them from the rear and also I have some heated seat elements to wire into the rear seats at some time so....
