I am loving the WinterContact TS830's.

Not 'real' quattro, but I still enjoyed playing snowplough, clearing the Devon roads so Land Rovers and other 4x4s could get through easier.

Don't worry I haven't crashed, I opt to take the front bumper off for snow use. It gives a bit more ground clearance, and makes it easier to clear the radiator every now and again.

I had one 4x4 owner congratulate me on getting up a hill that he couldn't. Also a Discovery owner pulled me over to tell me the road ahead was impassable, so I had to prove him wrong.
I only saw about 6 cars driving around all afternoon yesterday, all Landrovers and one other 4x4.

I just can't wait to get the S2 finished and out in the snow, so I can get the winter wheels and tyres on, the coilovers jacked up, the diff lock on, add some 5 pot noise and on/off Garrett power.

I have never seen a Treser Quattro with AVUS wheels. In my opinion they look better on the newer cars.

Stu that bumper-less look is starting to become a regular annual occurence

I'd like some Conti's next year, got the Nankang's this year - DPD tried to deliver them today but the van got stuck, try again tomorrow aparrently

I guess that'll be the test to if they're any good can the car get boost? So far it seems the wheels are easier to spin that the turbo...

PITA. I guess you'll get the winter tyres when the snow clears.

The bumper-less look is great for another reason. When people see it, along with the car doing 40/50mph towards them, they think you've already crashed, and are not scared to do it again, so keep well out the way.

It seems funny the A3 being the old rat car these days. It's not worth £25k any more!

I totally agree, the wheels are borrowed from my S2, the spare set with winter tyres, I just wanted to try them out while the S2 is off the road. They do however look better than I thought they would

Quattro + Snow tires = Winter beast

Last year I flew out with my girlfriend to Minneapolis from Connecticut(approx. 1300 miles) to buy my car. When we were approaching the Minneapolis airport they got hit with a snow storm and we had to circle the airport for about 45 minutes until we got cleared to land.

So we finally landed in an airport full of angry people facing no outbound flights for at least 12 hours, felt bad for em. Met they owner and bought the car and began driving back. There is nothing like getting comfortable in a new car like driving 28 hours through a blizzard with additional 6 wheels and tires in the back so you cant recline more than 95 degrees back. Drove 6 hours the first day, 17 hours the second, and 5 and a half hours the third, The storm above us the entire time then moving ahead as we slept and to awake to more snow dumped. The only other vehicles on the road being government snow clearing vehicles and SUVs. The CQ didn't even hiccup once the entire drive home and I was even passing out most vehicles on the road. The snow tires ( Wintermark Magnagrip) I had on the speedlines combined with the quattro (and extra weight from wheels and tires in the back) made it handle amazing.
This was my view for pretty much the entire drive. this was a four lane highway reduced to single lane.

The CQ the second morning. About an hour after this shot the sky dumped another 18 inches of snow.

and a couple shots once I got around my way once the snow slowed down a bit....

                            Nice roadtrip

That was a long old journey... once drove a huge Penske truck loaded with furniture from Indiana to Idaho, managed that in two days! Albeit in nicer weather.

Today was frustrating, DPD got round to delivering my winter tyres and then I got a call to say the van had broken down before they got to me
