Importing SPM Rods from Sweden?

@Ross i have to buy a set too, will they do discounts if we order two sets at the same time? No point in sharing the shipping as i'm not in the UK.

I'm not they'll do discount on 2 sets - I read on another forum (from a google search) that SPM offer group buy discounts on 4 sets of rods; as we're getting 5 apiece I'm sure I could put my negociating hat on and press for 3 lol; if anyone else is up for it??

In the mean time I'll email Sten and see what is said.

So, I'm open to any tax-saving advice. Do you have a UK business AHH? Where did you get the VAT number - or was it made up

I am registered for VAT personally, although I do not have a business. It may be that the post office should have collected the 17.5% for HMCE, I don't know, maybe I just slipped through the system.

Under the dual taxation laws in theory you should be able to claim back the difference between 17.5% and 25%, even if you are unregistered for VAT.

But I suppose an unscrupulous person could in theory pull a real VAT number from a receipt and use that as the VAT number when ordering, although this would of course be illegal and you don't really want to mess with HMCE.

Looks good and I might (ab)use the VOIP system here @ work and give a quick call to this guy to see if I can get a few figures. But, on current exchange rates it was £465 inc. shipping + 25% VAT; and £369 inc. shipping w/o tax. DAMN CHEAP i say for what seems to be such a great rod setup!

I'll get provisional figures for 4 of us, as I'ev read that's the minimum needed for a group buy, but as I said I'll talk to Sten and see if we can get some solid prices.

does anybody know who the maker is, of the rods that SPM is offering? When I look at the price .... they are too cheap to be "made in sweden". Are they imported....maybe Eagle?

Hi, a bit more info on the rods - they're made of 4340 USA steel - there's talk of these things being good to 1000hp on some Volvo's! The comment int he email was "not chines" - I think Sten was a bit insulted that I asked him about that

I've got some 'group buy' prices going; so far I have this interest:

For shipping, it's 250Sek to UK (£18/27E) or 350Sek to USA ($45) for a set of 5.

Prices for rods with discount, before tax + shipping are:
