Very nice purchase, quite low miles too. I still have ideas of having one sometime, might be tempted after I get mine back on the road and sell the golf to get one

        Very nice purchase, Newsh.
As you know it is a car that is great straight out of the box. Even better with a few simple tweeks. That looks like a very fine example too.

Steph has wanted a B5 RS4 for a number of years. Unfortunately she has now moved the desire on to something else German, with 6 cylinders, 4WD and twin turbos.

I know exactly how you feel. Have fun
I still find excuses to go everywhere all the time, even after owning it for a few months.

          Downsides:
950 EUR for winter tyres, 480 EUR in parts for timing belt service + oil leak removal.

Nice motor John Having done back to back passenger rides in one of these and an S4 around a rack, the handling and grip on the RS is something else and they look nice and mean too. Will be trying to get my old man to buy one of these sometime soon

Also ditch SAI and rear O2's and code them out of software.

The RS4 failed to start today, a mate is coming over tomorrow to help change the suspension so I thought I'd get it up on stands and make a start, its a strange one, actually it starts but immediately dies after a few revolutions.

                                Codes from Vagcom

                                16500 - Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor (G62)
                                P0116 - 35-10 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent
17978 - Engine Start Blocked by Immobilizer
                                P1570 - 35-00 -
                                18058 - Powertrain Data Bus
                                P1650 - 35-00 - Missing Message from Instrument Cluster

I was recommended on SRS to try disconnectoing the temp sender but no go.

After clearing the codes but not trying to start (Y pipe is off) I immediately get this one back

I can't access the instrument group, no. 17..

Looks like I have a problem with the instrument cluster or immobiliser?
