Hi Everyone,
Jeff Gerner (FRP) & I have been working on providing Fluidampr’s for the community for the last year.
We have been taking the 2.7TT Fluidampr’s and modifying them to work on Inline-5 motors.
They have been priced at $800-$900 depending on the engine code and all be it a somewhat successful product , I am getting a lot of the age old “but its too much” or “for a pulley?”
The fluidampr has a few flaws:
- Not useable on a 3B or 7A without converting to serpentine accessories
- Not useable with the OEM crank locking tool due to the envelope provided by Fluidampr
- Multi part assembly i.e. many parts need to come together to make it happen.
I get asked at least twice a week for a 3B or ADU version and we simply don’t have an option for them .
After talking with both Jeff & Fluidampr today , we would like to move forward with a production unit that will work across all the inline-5’s
It will still be a 2 piece assembly but not what you are thinking.
The centre hub will be as per the OEM , i.e. it will work with the OEM crank locking tool but there will be 2 big advantages.
1. To keep the weight down , the drive rings will be machined from aluminum. That means if you have an AAN , you get a 6 rib drive ring. If you have a 3B , you get (3) v-belt rings and so on and so forth.
2. The rear will have the timing belt sprocket machined into the hub as 1 complete operation
Ball park price will be $450-500 and will work on the following motors:
- 7A
- 3B
- AAN
- ADU
- ABY
AND will have the timing belt sprocket as part of the assembly. There will also be 2 pilot holes in the crank bolt snout to allow additional dowel pinning of the crankshaft to the Fluidampr.
3 problems:
1. In order to make this happen , we need commitment from 50 people
2. Lead time will be anywhere from 3-6 months
3. A non-refundable $150 deposit will be required.
I don’t usually ask for much from the inline-5 community but I would love to see this brought to market.
This is **** or get off the pot time…
And go
