Hello chaps, merry christmas and a happy new year to you all!
Not much happening here other than I had it mapped later summer of '12.
So I finally got to drive it around my town for about 2 hours (and boy what a great feeling that was!) before I had to jump on a plane to the far east for about 4 months. All I really could think of on that plane was that I should have skip work and just go for a long, heavily sought after drive around europe..
Now Im back from work and ready to continue with Step 1 of the project.
The mapping itself was pretty straight foreward. The dude mapping it did know his game and were very professional about it. Me on the other hand, had got the cams timing way too much retarded, used a rubber o-ring on the oilcooler which finally gave after on 6000rpm and chosed so kindly to supply a nice layer of hot oil all over my pride and shine engine, and finally we found out that the fuelpump did not deliver enough to proceed further, so we shooked hands and called it the day.
The best figure I saw was 400hp @ 1.6 bar with the rev limiter set to 6500.
Anywho, now I have a new bosch '044' pump, a new adjustable inner sprocket for the intake cam and ready to take it to where it should be: +-500hp on medium boost levels. The tuner said that was not going to be a problem at all when he saw what it produced with those defects.. Well, I dont belive it untill I see it, but its nice to hear though.
Regarding the driving experience, I have to admit its very stiff! Insanly stiff and much more than I was aiming at (maybe im growing old?). Im playing with the idea to chang out the stiff 034 engine mounts back to original engine mounts, but i'll have to test som more to confirm that feeling. The sound coming from the engine is just pure awesomeness, making people turn their head just at cruising speed (no WOT), even when I have two silencers hooked up on the 3" exhaust. Its a bit annoying as I dont want any attention before warp speed is enabled.
The clubport coilovers with the 8 pots makes it very, very nice to handle, but I havent tried to thrash it around yet, just done the casual cruising around town and some highway cruising. Throwing some r-tyres on this should make it even more fun to drive.
So its a great feeling to finally drive the car that havent seen the road since fall '07!

Sorry no pics this time. Too much fun to drive
