  • So, I finally received the correct front bearings ( on the third attempt). Pressed them in and fitted the front struts and brakes

    • I think I'm going to need some strut top bearings though.
Is it true that the blue ones are better than the greens?
I don't want the solid ones as they didn't last that long on my s2

      • Which ones didn't last, compbrake?

You may want to try Albert's (offset) top mounts?

        • Mine were the standard blue ones

          • So you did not try solid topmounts like Compbrake or the likes yet?

            Comment

            • I tried them on my s2, one side started knocking within a few months

              • Hmm, maybe Albert's mounts last longer? Well hopefully.

Stock top mounts will be gone in no time with coilovers or any lowering suspension for that matter.

                  • Thing is, I'll be pulling the engine out at some point as the clutch has started to judder, so I'll switch the flywheel out for a heavier one at the same time. Swap the braking system for a dual vac servo from Alex and sort out some of the wiring so might be another 5 years until the next update, stay tuned

We had to do this twice on my UR.

I'm building another engine anyway that I'm going to fit instead. Also need to lower then engine a touch as the wagner inlet manifold hits the bonnet. It'll be easier to fit the shortened engine loom properly with the engine out the way. I routed it incorrectly resulting in some of the auxilary loom wires catching on the steering arms. I fitted a double head gasket to drop compression more when I had the gt35 turbo fitted which I no longer want in place,
Prob a couple more reaons to pull the whole lot out but cant think of them right now Maybe fit a different turbo! Anyone got an rs2 turbo lying around ?
