We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
Thanks, it was challenge to make that pipe but ends really well.
I hope that abs threads are fine, just some vibrations loose the fittings.
Car is streetcar, will see how long I will like that scream but this could be redone if needed
To make things even better, I bought a smaller dream. It will be a long-term project and the car will be mainly for racing/fun. I'm considering either a 1.8t or a 5cyl engine, which are already extremely expensive
But back to Audi... today should arrive a new front bumper. Hopefully wont be any damage, also have to removed the ABS unit this week to look how the threads looks, thinking of making a m12 inside threads if necessary.
Yeah, could make another thread for Porsche.
Well, finally, I got an RS2 plastic copy front bumper, and on first sight, it looks very promising. Now have to make some brackets. Hopefully, the IC will fit there.otherwise i have to buy a thinner one and made a modify the IC piping again
I removed the ABS unit and seems that 3 threads are hit, so either have to change to another unit or re threaded it with M12. Not decided yet. Also I tried to fit the bumper and there are a few collisions, so have two options, change IC to thinner one, but also have to re make the IC piping and stuff around or cut out the bumper, in few spots. What do you think folks?
Yesterday, I fitted a bumper over 100mm thick IC, and you can see what I had to cut, but it's there. Now I have to make some mounts and also design some brake ducts into the bumper. Overall, I am happy with how the bumper looks. Hopefully, it will last long. I am thinking of making some reinforcements inside the bumper to keep it more rigid.
ABS brake lines torture continues...I decided to split the long brake lines to have a shorter one part because of easier to remove/change in the future, however as there is a Phaeton brake booster that is much thicker its much closer to ABS and next to ABS and master cylinder i have a adjustable rear brake bias unit, so its completely brake line mess there and I am not able to bend/shape the brake lines to fit nicely without any drag
I have already started thinking of removing the ABS unit to have a space there for the lines, but I kinda want to have ABS there for safety reasons
Also, maybe i will relocate that adjustable rear brake bias valve somewhere far away from ABS and master cylinder to have more room there.
Any ideas/thoughts?
Bought different brake lines and now the work is much better. Hopefully the brake lines will be done at thursday, after i could bleed the brakes and start preparing the bumper for paint
Well, another setback, i changed abs unit and make a new brake lines and try if the abs motor works with bridging pins 30and87 on the big relay and no sounds. The old abs unit with bad thread works but this isnt. Honestly i dont have any more power to work on this car.
Thanks for the advice Steve, I decided to disassemble the ABS units I had and make one (maybe two) functional. I cleaned the threads, as well as the valves. The motor was slightly stuck on the shaft, so it's running now. I'll put it in the car soon, bleed the air and hopefully the ABS will be fine.
Thanks, yesterday I bled the brakes.
I also installed the plastic wheel arches yesterday. I still have to test the brakes to see if there is a bubble in the ABS somewhere, but there is currently no brake fluid leak, so I am happy. Hopefully it will continue to be like that.
After the holidays I will finish attaching the bumper and paint the bumper, by then the front of the car should be completely finished. The last thing I would miss would be installing the dashboard. But the finish is always the hardest part and how many times do you have to do some things multiple times, unfortunately
