Out of interest... I see that almost every RS2 project with different turbo has a 3" downpipe. Mine still has stock RS2 DP and it's even a bit dented up on the bottom. So I'm wondering if it would gain in spool (and perhaps top end) with a 3" one to join my already 3" decat exhaust, of if it's isn't a bottleneck at all?

Oh and 5th gear on a cool motorway from our way back home
It underreads a bit we found out, so that's pretty much 2bar.

3 inch downpipe will have some good effect on EGTs but i wouldnt expect a huge difference in spool

no, that boost gauge is how it comes like this. Everyone has the 2.5bar.

            I would not bother with a 3" DP/Exhaust with a K26 #6 hotside.

Ok thanks for the input. Might do it in the spring, also to have a flexi part at the end of the downpipe then, to spare the turbo/manifold a bit.

100-200 real GPS km/h starting in 4th gear is around 10.3sec. In 3rd/4th down to 9.5sec. With me alone that is.

                3d/4th is always faster.

sounds like my old 3071R times, although i have to go back and look at the PB runs way in the past to get a proper time.. will look later on

                  Nice

Imagine having a DSG gearbox in these things... that would be FAST

Not quite... many turbo cars are faster using 4th only. The 3rd to 4th shift not only takes time in itself, but regaining boost takes a good while too.
I'm 0.3s faster 100-150kmh using 3rd vs 4th (2.68s vs. 2.99s), but 100-200 I'm considerably faster using 4th only as shift time and time off boost wastes much more than 0.3s. It all depends on the power/torque curve. However, peaky turbo or NA cars will often be faster using 3/4th as there is not enough power available at 100km/h in 4th (approx 3500rpm in our cars)

DSG would be fantastic though. A match made in heaven for turbocharged cars.

Some awesome results here, would have loved to have seen how it goes myself - I have a bit of an addiction to midnight mapping sessions now

Obviously 3rd/4th debate is going to depend on where your turbo kicks in and how much torque it produces. I must admit, mine is great in 4th at 3500rpm because by 3800rpm I'm seeing 2.2bar, would be interesting to get some times and compare (i know I keep saying that!) Are you using a K26/7 hybrid similar to mine?

If you had flatshift in your Motronic, that would not be a problem.

@Ross: It's one of Richards latest K26/27's, so I suppose it's the same as yours?
No headwork at mine though, so def. no 450-460hp like yours.

Next problem popped up unfortunately. My PAS is perfect when cold,
but when warm it fails to give assistance when parking, with a juddering steering wheel. No noises from the pump, but it's started leaking. Oil is new, so that won't be a cure. At first it was only when turning right, but on warm standstil both directions. Just hope it's the pump and not the rack.

yes tension on the belt is perfect. The pump has had it's periods of groaning and making a slight metallic knocking with your ear next to it on idle. Was better the last half year, but probably for the bin now
