We have made an enhancement so that old threads should now link from search results to the correct thread. This is not yet in place for single post links
From what I've read maybe you should check the slotted nut (if you haven't done that yet ofcourse )
And It's my last option to do the shocks since everything else seems ok. I'll go with some Bilstein B6's in the front, and hopefully that will cure my knock
Keen to see who can discover the cause of the knock first as I have a similar knock at the front of my Avant, have not checked it out thoroughly just yet, mine may be the top mounts.
Just to clarify, are there oem springs from later B models that will lower an S2 Avant at either the front and or the rear, and which will be the same stiffness as an S2 or just slightly stiffer ?
The lower is of more interest, (to me), than any extra stiffness.
There are no springs that can lower the avant other than the hr ones or the ones I use now and ill take off in march. Mine are oem heat treated to 15mm lower, while the hr are 30mm lower.
Installed a 034 Motorsport JHM Solid short shifter, since my OEM plastic mechanism beneath the gearlever was broken (I could pull the shifter right out ).
I've set it up at 15% shorter (the minimum) and it now feels VERY solid and connected.
No more play at the lever, and a short but firm throw through the gears. Very "click-clack" sporty feeling
At first I didn't use the half-moon spacers for beneath the bolts and it was quite notchy. But now with those spacers (and thus the mechanism sitting a bit higher) it's easier to select the gears.
One downside -> the reverse can be selected without pushing down the lever, but that's a matter of getting used to I suppose.
Oh and next I'll be receiving my H&R Monotube height adjustable kit, can't wait to feel the difference in handling, and hopefully no longer a knocking noise on the right hand front.
You need some of these babies, my car has so much grip, it's unreal:
ContiIceContact
yeah I know, but I wanted a set of 16" C2 OEM RS2 winter wheels with tires, but they don't fit my big reds. I'll have to source another 17" Cup set with wintertires I suppose
