  • Dual Stage Vacuum Booster Conversion Kit

    OK guys I have come up with a new kit to convert to the later and much more powerful dual stage brake servo.
    These provide a significant increase to the brake force available. You also then have access to a huge variety of cheap and readily available spare parts.
    You can also opt to use an S4/RS4 S6/RS6 A8/R8 larger 27mm master cylinder which is ideal if you have big brakes with a larger than standard piston area.
    The larger master cylinder will restore a short & firm pedal feel.

    Currently this is only proven on LHD cars, or RHD with a reverse intake manifold - I am just waiting on a stock intake in order to check clearance & fitment. It will be tight fit however no issues are expected.

    Servo adapter bracket machined from 6082 T6 & hard anodised to 40μm
    Extended pedal clevis machined from ‎34CrNiMo6 / 4340 / EN24T & zinc di-chromate plated
    Modified OEM servo fixing bolts
    M12x1 SAE brake line fittings
    Brake fluid reservoir connector & terminals

    Might just be me, but so far the pics don't work.

    Question:

    I know this is early going, but do you have any A-B 100-0 type of stopping tests to quantify reduction in stopping distance, beyond subjective pedal feel (which I imagine it improves immensely)?

      Stopping distance is limited by tyre grip, so this mod won't improve on that.
      What is does is significantly reduce the amount of pedal effort required to generate maximum deceleration; you can be more consistent & modulate the brakes more easily when on the brakes hard. B3/B4 parts are also becoming increasingly hard to find now and OEM are crazy expensive, if available at all. The option to use the larger master cylinder is handy when you up the piston area and start needing to move more fluid - also line pressure is inversely proportional to MC piston area, meaning a larger dia MC generates less line pressure for the same pedal effort - you really need more servo assist with a larger MC (or a higher pedal ratio).

                    Really good upgrade
                    Pedal feel and performance are night and day compared with hydraulic system.
                    Added bonus of reduced pipe work with bomb removal.
                    Ok my bomb on my ABY is probably original but still the 3b brakes feel like a new car.
                    That RS6 booster looks like a winner for a stock intake solution.

                        If B3/B4 boosters fit B2, then yes this will work

                              Yes, the tandem booster is the same diameter as the small B3/B4 vac booster
