Ignition, probably CDI unit to get that strong spark. M&W supposed to be the best.
Indeed hoping to make loads more power with the new ignition. More then enough potential in this engine. And the sound..... 8500... thrilling!

Well the results are in. Yesterday was dyno day again. This time I fitted the exotic head (thanks to JNL Racing) and swapped the fuel to E85, also the redline was increased to 8500 rpm.
Once mounted to the dyno there are always loads of bugs and issues to sort out. So after many hrs of small niggle fixing we were able to produce some boost.

    1 bar did 510 HP
then gradually we increased the boost, and at 2 bar we managed 755 HP. Then the ignition was maxed out and we started to have misfires at 2.1 bar. Besides that the engine/turbo was still making power. Sadly we couldn't turn op the boost further. Oh well. Soon it will have a retry.

Here is the video and the dyno result. On the video the car runs to 8500 rpm. After having the ignition issues we lowered it to 8000 RPM, hence the graph being only to 8000 rpm. So this is not the definitive result, but just the result till now. Still on moderate ignition in the top end. So still loads to be gained.

It's absolutely mental to drive this car with that amount of power. Suspension still sucks, but that will be sorted before the next race!

So next up is to fix the ignition, and the suspension. Then of to do some 1/4 miles

Great photo Tom. Enjoyed your visit. To bad we had some trouble with the car. A sparkplug failed, it wasn't the fuel...

The car been out very little time last summer. At the moment the head is off, and awaiting my new flowed cilinderhead. I've also have to change the springs. Measured that RS2 rear springs should fit the OEM SQ legs. Will try those on the car, i think it would be worth a test.
Then drop in some E85 and head back to the dyno

I've been meaning to share this with you. One of the best shots from my trip.

Good to see you this past summer. Looking forward to watching another blue RS2 project.
