      • Liking the strut brace coil bracket, tidy!

I have the same coils, totally solid, even the idle is smoother

Good to know about the coils they should free up a lot of power for me. Did you get the IGBT versions or do you have to map the dwell like my dumb versions? There is no dwell time info about, I've even asked 034 motorsport and they came back with nothing.

The brackets that clamp the tube are longacre mirror mounts, they come in 1.75" diameter so need machining out to 45mm.

I used another pair to mount my tablet dash

          • Superb!
No dwell info, I guess mine are dumb ones like yours, I actually bought them a few years back but only recently fitted. I assumed stock dwell was ok? I know of a couple of these sets running in the UK with no issues. In physical size it's closer to OEM than the tfsi coils so you'd expect a similar winding size and inductance.

              • It's been a while since I've properly updated this thread and there's quite a lot changed over the last couple of years so here goes.

First thing on the list was the engine wiring loom which I first made back in 2007 when my loom building skills where a little bit lacking. And over the years things get added so it was nice to get it all tidied up in one shot.

At the same time I updated the centre console with 5x egt displays, new swithches, lights for various systems.

Next was an update with the fuel system. Another Bosch 044 pump was added, the pump only runs above 0.5bar boost.

Whilst the cylinder head was removed I noticed since fitting the larger 875cc injectors the pistons had spots on top created by un atomised fuel washing the pistons clean, looking at the spray pattern of the siemens 875cc compared to the 630cc it becomes obvious why this happens. This prompted me to install the 875's in the outer plenum and run the 630's in the standard position, this would also give me plenty of fuel overhead to run the nitrous system as a dry setup and in theory give the fuel more time to atomise and pull heat from the charge air. The outboard injectors only come in at 0.5bar boost same as the fuel pump.

I've also been playing around with an antilag setup consisting of a throttle jacker and a fresh air injection into the exhaust manifold, to date this system is still work in progress but looks promising.

Another work in progress is the direct port dry nitrous system, I machined a 5x way splitter block to separate the nitrous lines and ports were added underneath the primary injectors, the fuel solenoid has been removed and extra fuel is added by the ecu. At the moment the system still runs a single point injector because of nitrous distribution problems but after speaking to Trevor Langford from highpower systems this can be remedied. A bottle heater was also added to keep AFR's constant when using gas.

Ever wondered how nitrous cools the charge air

The crankcase ventilation had a slight re work in the form of an an12 breather on the cam cover, a drain from the catch tank to sump and a 32mm catch tank outlet with a filter.

All the work seems to be doing a good job on the quarter mile as performance has never been as strong. A recent outing saw me beating PB times and speeds.

                New PB without nitrous.

New PB with 75hp nitrous jet.

                Cheers Baz

                      • Absolutely EPIC!!!!!

what EGT display units are you using that they are able to mount like that? or did you make them up?

                        any HP figures yet?

                        Cheers

                        • Details of where to buy the egt amps are on the previous page and the display is just a load of voltmeters off ebay mounted behind a piece of smoked acrylic.

The car has never been on the dyno so power is estimated at around 600hp without gas and around 700hp with gas.

So are you using the 5 EGTs to trim the fuelling / NO2 on a per-cylinder basis?
