I’ve removed all the coolant pipes and they are getting cleaned inside and out.

And last night I swapped the LCD over.
    All good fun.

I went on a little parts buying trip.
Thanks to Rob (Bertman) I now have a new old stock Behr radiator and a nice steering wheel.

And thanks to Error404 I also have a very good new coolant pipe.

I have also changed the other two rubber coolant pipes on that side while the radiator is out.

Now, I thought fitting the steering wheel would be a straight swap. Unfortunately, the shaft diameter is different. So, not being one to give up easily and having a later 80 cabbie here for spares, I set about swapping them over. Not so easy but got there in the end.
Whilst there, I found another little job.
    The wiring is a mess.

Ideally you want an axle stand under the extension or a jack with a block of wood on to support the head of the torque wrench. If you lean hard on it like that the torque won’t necessarily be correct and also you can split the socket.

And the horn from the Cabbie is very good and same as S2.

Already fitted. Anyone want some air horns?

Lots of shiny new parts ready to go on.
I got hold of one of James billet pulleys. A piece of art.

    And going back on.

Just an interesting observation, on eBay there’s at least ten Audi 80 Cabriolets being broken. Very similar to what the S2’s went through several years ago. Anyone with a decent one would probably be well advised to hold onto it, it’ll be as rare as hen’s teeth soon.

No problem Dave, I am glad you got it, I was not too keen as I have no storage,

Lol… you might want to turn a couple of logs around to mask the overspray….

Having never run a convertible car I don’t know, but I’d assume they’re probably more susceptible to dry and brittle leather than a Coupe.

The seats from the cabbie are incredibly dry and need a small repair.
I’ve given them a good clean and feed.
I think they are going to need a few feeds to soften the leather. It’s no wonder the drivers bolster has torn.

The only place I have to paint at the moment is my front porch. Don’t tell the wife.
