Home, wallet significantly lighter, jet lagged lol. Got a quiet moment to get the plan sorted for ac. Going to learn aluminum tig welding on the fly by mounting the drier tomorrow.... how hard can that be???? Lol
I think i am gonna use an fittings for the connections i make due to availability, not 100% on that yet tho.
Also found a supplier of small sample sizes for paint. So i ordered a few colours and a cheap airbrush on amazon, will hopefully get on with that decision later this week.
Last question for now is weather rs2 headlights are wired differently than others. And if they are, can someone share the wiring diagram? I'm wondering if i can wire my lights like that and thus solve the high/low beam issue i've yet to sort out.1993 UrS4...aka the rocket powered living roomComment

I hope you enjoyed your trip. It was rather hot for you. I hope you avoided the fires we are currently having. Probably small compared to what you suffer there?
if you car was originally fitted with non elipsoid lamps and you have upgraded to elipsoid then there is a slight difference in the switch wiring at the steering column. I did this mod on a coupe years ago. If you search the internet there is a thread somewhere. I think it was from a German site? I did have old pics. I will search for them
This thread might help

Thanks, will it be the same as two bulb european lights and thus be in s2 central's archive of diagrams?
Yeah, it was hot. we get those temps here though. The main difference is the (welcome) lack of humidity (35ā° with 90% humidity is just a drain on your soul!) And we lazy north americans have WAY better air conditioning!
That said, last year for us was about as bad as you've got this year, i didn't mow the lawn after late june and the leaves fell mid august.
This year tho, we've had our normal rainfall AND all of yours.... it's nuts. 500+mm since july 1. Problem is that's coming at crazy rates. The storm that hit the night before we came home dumped 30mm in 20mins. Lotsa flooded basements this summer apparently.
Anyways, did my first actual tig weld last night. Not stacking dimes but it'll hold lol. Will have the drier mounted today and maybe the evaporator tubes too with the ports.1993 UrS4...aka the rocket powered living roomComment

aaaaaargh. the recent forum issues appear to have broken (admittedly old) links??? what are the chances someone knows what this mysterious wire change is?
Ive done this, details in this thread http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5490
I just moved one wire to another location.

Just written up how I solved my high/low beam issue on a 1994 S2 ABY with projector headlights and weak headlight wiring here. So long as you can identify high/low beam feeds on each side (I used a multimeter), then you should be good to go.Last edited by Solfella; 17 August 2026, 12:14.1994 ABY Audi S2 | 1991 CQ20V - gone | 350bhp built Subaru Forester - gone | 2013 Land Rover Discovery 4 SDV6Comment

My (limited) understanding is that the yellow wire change works on some (CQ20v and S2s). Yours looks different to how that's described in this post and similar posts I have looked at on the forum. I have no RS2 experience. I could have done the yellow wire swap in my ABY S2 Coupe, but seeing as I was putting in relays to beef up the wiring anyway, it was just as easy to insert a diode between the high and low trigger wires as in my post.1994 ABY Audi S2 | 1991 CQ20V - gone | 350bhp built Subaru Forester - gone | 2013 Land Rover Discovery 4 SDV6Comment

I'll play with things more soon. Thanks for the info.
In the meantime, i am starting to prep things to get painted. I stripped the interior (or what little i had in it) last night. The aluminum tubing for the ac system arrive today, along with a cheap bender for it. I'll spend the next few days forming n welding that up. Once that's done, i think it'll be time to pull the engine and finalize the scheduling for paint. I've got samples arriving today so that'll probably get sorted this weekend.....or at least narrowed down.
I am also possibly changing wheel choice. The set i am picking up tonight is 18", which i think might be too big for this car but, they are selling cheap so not detrimental if i don't like them on this. They may work on my s6 though so that could be a fallback plan.
The other choice is 17" but no luck just yet. I can find them in 5x100 all day long but 5x112 is proving elusive. I of course found a set (in toronto) when i was browsing initially a couple years ago (i sorta feel i "settled" on the avus wheels) but now that i am serious, hen's teeth....1993 UrS4...aka the rocket powered living room👍 1Comment

Well, learnin stuff is hard.... tig welding thinwall aluminum tubing to start is definitely starting not at the beginning lol.
Got a few tubes started. The joints are ugly. Then i screwed up a measurement had hafta restart lol.... oops. I am going to get a swage tool and maybe make my life easier with fillet welds as oppsed to butt welds on not perfect fitment.
Regardless, finished in a few days i think.
My paint samples have arrived so i'm gonna get started on that. No huge rush as i called the body shop and it looks like i'll be delayed a month getting in there.
Basically, i hope to be stripping the car in the next couple weeks and sanding it down again and getting ready to send it out and pay a rediculous bill........ sigh...1993 UrS4...aka the rocket powered living room👍 1Comment

Right, swage tool here, instantly made welding pipes easier. Still a fugly joint but i'll get there..... should have the ac plumbed in a coupla days now.
And i have got the colour almost sorted. It's goin purple. down to 2 shades of it. Aerosols on order and my spare fender is prepped. Only question left to answer bodywise is whether or not i need to make room for 8.5" wheels or not. It'd probably be better to see if i need to roll things BEFORE it gets painted lol

Shouldnt need to roll with 8,5 wheels as long as your ET isnt bonkers.Comment

So, on the positive side, i can now say i can tig weld aluminum tubes. On the negative side, i never wanna do that again lol. I have a few tabs to add to them but the AC pipes are all made. It sucked lol. The LAST fitting took 4 attempts.... (of course).
Anyways, i gotta go thru my stuff and then order up the soft line bits i need and then i can wrap up the fabrication once and for all??1993 UrS4...aka the rocket powered living roomComment
