Got the (old, broken) fog lights fitting now. Still some work needed to strengthen the rad mounting but,

20260602_125156.jpg Gotta work on the seats and dig out the mirrors and see if i can get 2 good ones out of the 4 crusty ones i have.

Edit: survey says out of 4 mirrors, 0 are useable.... sigh, ebay here i come....

Chinese ebay light switch came today and now the hids work properly with the diode modification. So that's another item off the list.

Rad mounting continues to frustrate. It's just not solid enough now and will not maintain clearance to the fan. Very annoying to be dealing with that again only because i tried to put the fog lights in.... literally about 3mm i need to deal with on it...

Still no friggin fan.... i HATE when web stores say a part is available but then after you pay it says direct from manufacturer and it'll be 3 weeks....

At any rate, i needed to get it mobile again so reassembled it and i can confirm the shroud works cuz the mechanical fan has decent pull from the opposite end of the rad.

So now the last tricky part before i bring it down to the highly recommended body shop 20mins from home for their input and quote. Final ac plumbing. I have been told that AN fittings and PTFE lines are a good way to go which means i basically need a bunch of bungs tig welded on the various bits by a friend who can tig weld, cuz i can't to save my life!

Internet shopping strikes again??? It's been a week and my fan order is still "processing".... sigh.

But on the bright side, internet shopping strikes again lol. As we all know, tradition can be hit or miss with these cars. I'd say this was a good hit.

20260525_180513.jpg had to rejig one of the rad mounts to fit them. Looking at the other, i MAY have to tweak the other side too.

Hoping the fan gets here soon so i can get my friend who can tig get some an fittings welded on to various ac bits so i can FINALLY FINISH fabrication and get prepped for painting.....somehow....

The tricky part is done. The hoop is a bit tigher than i would think is ideal at the top though. May just let it self clearance, the fan is definitely as large as it can be and still fit.

Now i wait for the electric fan...

Make your line, then cut it just a bit smaller diameter than the line. Then finish it off with a flapdisc to get your final diameter. That way you wont have to be so precise with the death wheel.

Beginning of the fan shroud. I don't have the new electric fan yet but this gives a general idea. Will get the hoop positioned and tacked tomorrow, cuttibg the hole out is gonna be interesting with an angle grinder lol. Gotta find the series resistor and get that all mounted up and electrical sorted too.

Google isn't really helping me here, wondering if any people here have pictures of b4 hoods with vents in them. Somebody flipped the switch to summer over the weekend and suddenly it's 30⁰ out today. I noted yesterday that the hood gets quite warm quite quickly, so as expected, it seems there's a lot of heat being generated. My next task is to get a fan shroud and secondary fan up n running. But given the tight quarters this engine now resides in, i am wondering if hood venting is a good idea as well.

Yeah, that's why i ordered the cheap switch on ebay. I COULD get a new oe on ebay, but they were ~$400.... too bad tradition is out of stock, half the price.

At any rate, i almost have a car here!

That 6V is very strange. Sounds like there is some half of a connection with enough resistance to pull the 12V down to the residual 6V.
There is always a chance that both stalks aren't OK. You could measure if there is any resistance in the switches of the stalk.

Got the wheels pointing sorta the right way and went for another quick one. Yup, she's got some poke lol.

Tossed the interior at it to get an idea where i am. Probably got hantavirus pulluig the bits from the rafters in my shed.... avenge my death please. I don't think i am missing anything but it's all very dirty and in rough shape.

Ordered the houndstooth seat upholstery, gonna see if they also sell the fabric, i think it could look neat in the doorcard inserts? They need to be retrimmed anyways...

The last electrical gremlin is a weird one for the headlights. I want to use hid projector retrofits in the NA housings.... less than a 10th the cost of euros and about a 20th the cost of rs2 lights now... the issue is that when the low beams are on, there's roughly 6v at the high beam. What that means is when i hit the high beams, the solenoid to go to high beam activates, but when i turn off the high beams, 6v is too much for the solenoid to disengage. So the high beams stay on unless i turn the lights off. I tried this with 2 switches and the same. Interestingly, i tested my s6 and it's not an issue, high beams are 0v when off. Disabling drl didn't affect the results. I found a chinesium switch on ebay for cheap, maybe it'll act differently?

Anyways, gotta few things to work out interior wise and then i think it's finally time to get serious about paint.

Right, not much happened this week but i have a nice long weekend now.

I got the fuel leak sorted once and for all, new hardware for the seatbelt and got the mfts wired in and i just confirmed the temp guage works properly now.

Great success, it's almost a car lol.

Going to work on getting the wheels pointing vaguely the same direction this weekend and then start focusing on the interior and paint (finally!).

So i guess i shpuld be happy??? Went thru part catalogues and search probably 75 part numbers on tradition for interior pieces for the coupe. Other than various clips, i think i got 3 parts..... so my wallet is happy, i think that is the best bang for buck bill i have ever paid at tradition lol. Been a hell of a week at work so i am currently trying to find the leak in my beer bottle instead of working on the coupe....

still aiming to getting it running again this weekend and tidying things up more.

Been thinking about seat covers. you may recall i am putting boxster seats in it. The seats are tan (and utterly fried lol) thinkin bout these

    PorscheBoxsterPepitaFabric_06658d0b-4aa2-45f5-a1d6-cfa528d3c430.jpg

Prblem is i gotta find black backs for the seat. Easily found on ebay but as per usual, utterly stupid shipping costs....

I feel for the interior, i'll be getting familiar with the use of trim paint..... hardly ideal but in these parts, i may as well have a veyron....
