Cams and caps back on.
IMG_0437.jpg
I also fitted all the EM studs, some of them are a little to long for the RS2 EM though so they will need trimming back a bit.
Next step is to rebuild the block with the crank, rods and pistons.91 S2 coupé - RIP

Scat rods and Pistons almost fully assembled now.
Just needs the piston rings.
Heated rods and pistons in the oven for about 5 minutes till they were about 60 degrease. That made inserting the pins much easier. The retaining clips were still a complete PITA though
and on several occasions i almost slashed my wrist open as the screwdriver slipped.
The pistons obtained a few surface scratches too where i was trying to push in the retainers.

Studs and nuts from Fireturk have arrived too.
They are very nice quality and about 20mm to long so that i can cut them to fit perfectly with the new wheels and spacers.

ideal mate, mine is doing my noggin in,when you lift off (breaking) sounds like i got a frog under the bonnet as the engine moves and my fat downpipe rubbs on the driveshaft due to engine movementComment

Bo which samco pipe did you use to connect the rad to the top of the aux rad?Piping is 60mm OD with 3mm walls, all Stainless 316 grade.
Inter Cooler is biggest that will fit under there with out any major butchering.
I took out the carbon canister and one way valve from the petrol expiation tank too and ran new breather pipe out the RHS rear boot vent. ( thanks for the pointers Stu
)
Its all fitted now and and running strong. Even though there is still a boost leak somewhere as the needle seems to flicker a bit in 4th and 5th when at WOT.
Boost is peaking at 1.6bar now in 5th
and its pulling way harder in 2nd and 3rd.
The Reverse IM has made a massive difference. Would be interesting to see what it reaches on a rolling road with still the stock turbo and only generic chips.
I earthed one cable at the back of the IM where the Carbon canister valve usually goes and one on the Fuel rail. There was no deicated earth points on the IM, does this sound ok?

I was going to order one from Wagner but I'm thinking I may go alli rad.Comment

Jamo I used the one that came with Paul's samco kit, its the same shape as the OEM one and just about fits. I think Castens one is better as it gives a bit more space to work with, this one is tight but it defiantly fits.

Ah that's good news, my car came with SFS water hoses so i'll see in the future if it fits and if I stay with the standard rad.
Any progress or new pics btw Bo?Comment

New break pressure accumulator (Bomb) arrived today:
IMG_0492.jpg
Luckily Stu lent me his new one on the weekend so i got that fitted already.
This was only 149 Euros delivered from Paul at Custom Auto Craft - If any one needs one you can contact him direct with this email: Paulfern@custom-auto-craft.com
Fitting it was quite straight forward.
I depressurised the bomb by pumping the breaks about 20 times when the car was off. Then followed instructions from this guide.
Getting the banjo bolt back in was the most difficult bit as its really tight when in situ and has to go in at exsactly the right angle. It took me about an hour to get it to bite and i was trying..
Also fitted a replacement power steering pump as i wand to recondition my one at some point.91 S2 coupé - RIP
