    Rod preperarion time.

Spent 2 hours prepping the rods, removing a few burrs and sharp edges I found. Chamfered the small end oil hole.

Biggest problem is a burr on the inside of the small end oil hole shown in the last piccy...think i need some reamers.

      ?

Sent this to Scat the other day...still no word.

Just as well i've got a 3.5mm reamer on the way...typical of modern companies i spose?

      Hi guys,

Just spent about 2 hours prepping my rods for an engine build and i noticed a couple of niggles i have had to sort out.

First there sems to be 'burr' left at the machining of the groove at the big end and second the oil hole at the small end seems to have another 'burr' on the inside of the hole, probably left after the small end has been honed to size.
These are not all present on all rods though.

Hope the pictures are clear for you to see these problems.

I'm not looking for replacements as i will be solving these problems here but it makes me feel a little bit disappointed in the quality standard in the rods as they are advertised as 'performance parts'.

Maybe this was a rogue set that got passed your usual inspection processes?

Part no. on the box is'2-5670-1992-981-787S'.

P.S. Can you tell me the correct size for the small end oil hole so that i can purchase a suitable reamer.

      Many thanks.

      Carl.
      Carlos.

              .

Nope...spent about an hour on each rod. Reamed the holes, de-burred all the sharp edges and re-finished inside the small ends...checked fit with an old pin.

                  Some progress.

My refurbed front pulley has come back from ye ol' States...very good service from Dale Manufacturing.

Wossner piston data for those looking for oversize pistons with the standard rods and crank.

Page 9 will be of interest...

The water manifold drawing (from Page 6, Post 79) has an error. I used these dimensions to set up my CAM program initially, and the pattern is off.

The listed 84.00mm dimension should be 89.00mm. Double checked against my water manifold as well.

To any future readers, do not use the template from page 6 as is or you will scrap your head.
