buggr. had to buy new front pads and rear discs from GSF cos the car's i have are all 4 stud and front pads are different (looks like it according to the part numbers anyway). What's the use of having all these spares if they won't fit my sodding car?
And I have to wait to Friday for them.

that sounds just the ticket. of course quattro would be nice. and maybe a turbo. but then that's called an s2 avant isn't it?
Just depends on gearboxes really. I have a good 2.3 10v engine that would propel it along nicely but I couldn't be ****d with changing gearbox and everything. Although if the coupe parts fitted.... no noel, get a grip man. the s2 isn't even MOTd yet

Yeah there was a while ago on the bay a red avant with a 20v 7a lump in it.

Steve - hell yeah. Do my best anyway.

Jase - haha. ah yes. Apart from them. Thing is, would any of the 80 avants' gearboxes take a 5 pot or am I looking at changing the gearbox too, and then driveshafts etc etc?
A nice 2.3 80 avant with a coupe front bumper, nice set of wheels... Could be a nice family car since the missus is insisting we need one (to be fair she's doing her back in lifting my son in and out of the coupe )

aye. god bless the 3 donor cars eh? hehe
Just need to try to get into GSF dead early for a set of pads. It's that or pay several hundred pounds to Halfords in the evening

I'm already considering a next project too

Actually it's not too bad. As follows:
NS front indicator wrong colour (obviously i've used a white bulb with white lens. doh!)
fog light not working. didn't check that before i sent it in. again.. doh!
NS track rod end excessive play
    need front brake pads
rear discs pitted so need replaced too
NS rear bearing has play. so needs tightened or replaced.
NS rear parking brake "recording little effort". new caliper methinks.
    parking brake efficiency below requirements.
I'll escape down to the garage over a couple of evenings and see if I can get it back in for a retest by the end of the week.

honestly.. having just assembled a car out of 2 broken cars (and a few extra bits) I'm pretty happy with that list
Not bad at all so see you next week then...
