aye I think that'll be the plan. i'll be investigating those 2 random plugs on the passenger side. Also there's a single wire on the driver's side that's been cut off. it has a thin green connector in line and then the end's missing. I know it was like that but wtf did I do with the old loom that I labeled and cut off the old shell? damn. i'll figure it out anyway. no biggie.

Well if you dont have side lights first thing to check would be if there is power going to the lights and work your way back ..maybe those two plugs???

    Do you have ETKA?

Noel, I'm pretty sure the headlights don't have a relay believe it or not (just a bulb monitoring relay as used by autocheck).

def connected cos sure the unit is all in one mate. had assumed that the sidelights and main beams would be on the same fuse and relay. any tried and tested way of testing a relay I should know of?
    cheers

Mr Smug for now. More so when it's all shiny and looking good (and road legal). given the price I paid to start with for the broken car it hasn't worked out exactly cheap (even just thinking about the tools i've bought) but then I was uneducated then. So when I buy my next broken s car i'll know better what to pay for it and what's waiting for me. :mischeif:

and paul. I didn't bleed the system with the handbrake on by the way. i might have done so if i hadn't done some sniffing about on my favourite forum first Pedal was soft after bleeding but with the engine running I pressed it a few times and it went hard (yes - the pedal). I hadn't pressed it at all since the bleeding so I assume that was just the bomb coming into play. i'll clean the lot up and see what stopping power i have then. I conducted a thoroughly scientific test by accelerating and braking in 1st and then reverse right outside my garage. It proved inconclusive with regards to the brakes but did make me giggle each time the engine revved.

Yeah pretty good photo shop .......lol Lucky i guess

Brakes will be crap as they have not been used in a long long long time ..discs all mucked up ..the pedal was ok ..think they just need cleaned up and they will be fine

    Well done lads... good result.

The brake problems will be something stupid like a siezed caliper... Oh you didn't bleed with the handbrake ON ?

Does the pedal feel squishy or hard... does it get harder as you pump it ? The brake pedal I mean....

The standard brakes in full health aren't *that* bad unless you are stressing them.

    Paul

They should swap over from what I know. I'll have to have a look at etka when i'm home next.
    that'd be great mate, cheers.
I'll get brakes apart and give the discs a bit of wire brushing. maybe there's a layer of rusty dust on 'em.
