haha. i'm not far off mate but I didn't get the clutch/brakes bled after all. I did stick the headlights in and other bonnet on though and fitted a new lock to the garage door since the existing one apparently failed the other night and one of the blokes with a neighbouring garage had to shut the door over for me. could have been nasty.
anyhoo... had a quick look in today and fek knows how i'm getting back in to that bleed nipple for the clutch. I take it I need to go in from underneath yes?
Good news is the engine was running reasonably well the other day (bought a new battery and made a hell of a difference in cranking it over). Also getting cylinders 2 and 3 the right way round helped.
I still have a decent list of things to do to the car including identification of a few odd plugs and wires dangling about by the lights. And I can't for the life of me see where around the wastegate the vacuum hose goes (thin one that runs down the rocker cover to the front).
Oh yeah.. I still have a bot of smoke wafting up from under the wastegate/EM area. hmm.

Just realised it's been ages since I updated the thread. Didn't get anything done at all over xmas. Spent the whole time making a pig of myself, playing with Gabe (son) and then recovering from a bizarre eye, ear and throat infection.

I'm on the home straight but damn the scottish weather doesn't make it easy for me..

The driver's side indicator wiring is weird, the loom that goes across the front goes towards the side repeater and the wire then comes back to the indicator. I got that wrong and had one indi and one fog RH inicator was sure bright though

haha. I have visions of something from only fools and horses as I drive away smugly with my headlight flashing instead of my indicators and my heater sucking air out of the cabin. Nice to know i'm not the only one who does these daft things of course.

I'm hoping derek dm80 will come down a spin in his 3B and let me check bits and bobs against his. I have a few odd bits and bobs there. Including a 3 pin plug by the fan resistor - I can't see where it goes. (this is really the theme of my build)

Can anyone point out to this simpleton (that's me) where the vacuum hose goes when it runs down the top of the rocker cover towards the front of the car? I seem to remember it attaches to the turbo/wastegate somewhere but i've stared at it for a while and can't figure it out. bear in mind it's been 6 months and a couple of days since I had a whole, running S2 so my memory's going a bit.

hmm. I can't see a recirc valve on any of the diagrams I have here. closest i have is a boost pressure limiting valve.

If you are talking about the vac line coming from the back of the inlet manifold running over the cam cover then that will be for the Recurculating dump valve

cheers mate. so just the wee nipple bit sitting proud up on top? I'm worried about my sanity if I've forgotten something so simple. Think Rob was helping me that day and took the hoses off. shame I lost the friggin labels off a lot of hoses etc while I had them stored. oops.

The Little black valve that is attached to the MAF hose, you cant miss it.

The DV or diverter valve or dump valve or recirc valve as it is variously known, on the 3B is plugged into the hose that comes from the bottom of the turbo to the intercooler. The little nipple that the vac hose goes onto actually points towards the floor so is hard to get to from above. If you've still got the bumper off you'll be ok though.
