Yes that's the one, its a nice piece, as said you can't buy a silencer, tailpipes and bends for the £250 they cost. Fit & quality is good for an off-the-shelf unit.
Of course I have modified mine
Off the shelf it is 2.75" diameter but its sleeved down to 2.5" so it can join the OEM system with the OEM flarre and sealing ring system.
I have cut off this restriction and fitted a transition to 3" and a V-band. Will post some pics later John

I'm using the same Jetex back box with the restrictive joint removed and a 3" sleeve joint welded on, the rest of my system is 3" straight from the turbo no cat's or other boxes. To start with it was fairly loud but now I've covered a few 1000 miles it's quietened down a lot, it still set's the odd car alarm off in supermarket car parks though.

When you guys built your own downpipes what was the process?

Did you just eyeball some tubes and start taping them up?

Pretty much what I did mate. Welded the transition to the flange, bolted that to the turbo and then started cutting up bends, once they were about right, taped them together and moved onto the next one. If you need to tweak the shape you can then just untape and twist & turn them a touch to adjust. Good fun, very satisfying
Notching the wastegate pipe is the hard bit, took me an age.

Not got any vid's of mine mate, I don't have a fancy fangled phone/recording device, my brother and I tried with his I-phone a while ago and it didn't give an accurate recording of the sound, a lot of the low frequency's were missing which made it sound more tinny and nasty than it actually is.

I'm really very pleased with the exhaust note, sounds quite similar to James ABY CQ but a touch louder and a fair bit deeper, doesn't drone too much when cruising and sounds out nicely when I give it some stick. However if I was doing a lot of town driving it would be too loud, when the sound can bounce back off buildings it really is quite noisy and as I've mentioned it will set car alarms of. Most people who don't know what the car is assume it's a V8, and to be fair just about everyone say's it sounds nice.

Andy, I didn't make my own downpipe, lind4hl made it for his RS2 then sold it too Jamo who then sold it too me, he did a nice job of it but didn't incorporate the wastegate. I found a screamer pipe to be way too loud so plumbed it back in, like Alex says this really is the fiddly bit, I put a flange both sides of the flexi so I can get the DP of without having to remove anything else apart from the airbox but it's very tight and there's a knack to it plus I have to be over a pit or on ramp.

I'm erring towards a small 2nd silencer at the moment. Got a load more to do first so some time to consider, the rest of the exhaust will be the last job I think

I'll try and get the gopro set up on the coupe over the weekend and get some vids with sound inside and outside the car for you so you can judge for yourself.
I might get some of our Supercharged Mini cooper S with the Motorsport exhaust on it, that makes some comedy noises. Rasps, pops, bangs, burbles. Combined with the supercharger whine, its like a one man band of odd little noises.

Not much to report this week, been really busy at work with the kids being off school.
Sneaked out of work a bit early today to glue some metal together.
Downpipe is now finished, and I'm out of gas
