Why don't you put your second silencer in with a V band on each end then you can swap in a straight through section of pipe if you want a bit more noise?

That's be the best way to do it for sure, 3 pairs of V-bands and a silencer adds up to a fair chunk of change....

for now I think this is what I will do

I've got a video of mine, 3" turbo back with 1 small centre silencer, to a Jetex back box same as yours. Can't seem to upload it to Youtube, but if you PM me your email address I'll send you a copy

I hotwired my fuel pump relay last night to pressurise the fuel system and check for leaks before I added some more heat shielding that would cover the fuel lines.
I found the FPR was wet, around the top and making a bubbling noise. So looks like it is leaking, I assume the seal which I can easily change, but I wondered if anyone ever had an FPR itself fail?

Seem to remember my dad's doing that on his s6, was like it was leaking from the joint of the 2 halves. Think he ended up replacing it.

Got a few more jobs done on the coupe today. Finished the engine mount heat shield

                      EF414E67-ED1D-4985-BE90-3FBF8A1E6DAD_zps8y5jbupr.jpg

                      Fits like so.

                      C5AAA5A1-F2FC-4250-96E0-0A75769E9F25_zpsdubfs8et.jpg

Finally got the downpipe finished & fitted and wiring & plumbing all finished around the turbo. Man that old compressor housing looks rough. Might need to take it off & paint it....

                      B2657A58-C7EA-4B5F-B773-93A07F8FF5E6_zpsbpesum6a.JPG

Needed to make some modifications to the downpipe to make some more clearance for the gearbox mount heat shield. Had to cut it and add a 35mm just after the lower bend.
Finally I modified an OEM 3B donwpipe hanger to work on mine, suspended from the gearbox mount. Downpipe is solid as a rock now

                      738057D4-83C8-4E1F-A2AF-1C3F71E54C78_zpsarho4pto (1).JPG

Started installing the AC pipes. Because of the vacuum servo the ABY pipes from the evaporator to the drier don't fit. I have used the 3B pipes instead, they run under the throttle body, making space tight but don't foul anything. Once I upgrade the breather system I'll be able to free up some space back there
Need to fabricate a bracket to mount the new drier. I also have a new condenser to go on. All the AC seals are NLA so I need to find some suitable seals that will work, I'll probably use Hella ones.
Getting there now.... need to order some ignition leads now, then I should be able to fire it up

Minor update. Been off for a much needed holiday and really busy with work so not had time to do much for a few weeks now.

Made a harness for the LS2 coils, and been back and forth with Magnecor a few times trying to get a set of custom leads ordered, think we're getting there now...

Ran into a snag with my modified ABY intercooler, in that it doesn't fit my freshly painted cross member - should have checked that
so I'll have to chop that about to make it work. In the mean time been getting a few more jobs done.
Got a few little brackets and things to make to hold some plugs and other bits only I'm demented enough to worry about.

Got the vacuum servo plumbed in using a modified 10v vacuum line. I'm using two check valves in series for a bit of extra security:

                                51A423DE-342F-4FD9-909A-7A75C2F59FC1_zpspmhgu2z3.jpg

Connected to the IM where the one-way valve for the carbon cannister circuit would once have been:

                                3E75B13B-F1A2-47DA-A0B7-CE292D204C94_zpssnumaf8x.jpg

Done a lot of the plumbing jobs now, got all the AC pipework into place with all new seals and fitted all the coolant silicon hoses and a nice new expansion tank. Radiator and new AC condenser fitted:

                                977C7E5D-30F1-4321-B4B0-B61AACDC21E6_zpsz8y2v7ti.jpg

RS2 airbox and new RS2 air guide piece going in:

                                5E838A84-E448-43D7-8EAF-EC991E4CF28C_zps4ekin4an.jpg

Fitted the throttle body, ISV & intake pipe and started to fit some boost hoses.
Here's a a nice little shot to finish on

                                17A9FF98-E606-48E2-9349-6CFAFF1A0FD3_zpsgkugsase.jpg
