Anything is possible. There is however no way to mount both without altering the hub/ upright.
Easiest to run without a handbrake, or add a hydraulic handbrake then swap back onto the original calipers come MOT time.

Thanks for the offer Hamish. However, I would need to keep the standard handbrake for my road car.
Having made those brackets, do you think it would be possible to fit the porsche calipers and the original ones. Does it look like there is space?
This would probably mean two sets of brackets and maybe even making another mounting point on the hub?
Presumably as the hanbrake ratchets/winds on the brake line inlet could be plugged?
Anyway, thanks for keeping this thread updated, I've enjoyed reading it

The standard calipers are just hanging there as they are fitted currently for its MOT. Once its passed I will be swapping over. I am not interested in making a set up which has the handbrake set up as well as I have a hydraulic handbrake. Not much time to swap set ups over once a year.
I wouldn't want to make any more as they took a good while to machine. If you had somebody lined up to copy them then they could be borrowed for a short time.Leave a comment:

Nice work on the rear calipers. I have boxtser fronts and was considering fitting mathcing rears too.
There might be some demand for rear caliper brackets as lots of people have this setup on the higher powered quattros.
Are those the standard handbrake calipers that are alongside? So you have the original handbrake but with boxtser or 996 rears?
If you or someone else (bambridge?) is happy to make some more caliper brackets I would be very interested.
On quattroforum i was shot down and told that upgrading the rears was not worthwhile. With more than double the original power I say it is!
Having said that I will be using the origional servo system with brake prop valve unlike your race setup.Leave a comment:

Not done much since the first show, had a little break from working on it. Back on it now though sorting the issues from the first drive. The main issue from the drive was the lack of brakes. Mostly down to removing the servo and the standard pedal set up not having a high enough ratio. To sort this I bought a tilton pedal box from a mate. This also meant I could get rid of the compbrake set up which was crap.

To get them to sit far enough forwards I had to make a false floor. I made it nice and strong as the standard set up had been flexing the bulkhead.

All mounted up. Ordered new brake lines but they turned up with the wrong ends so they will be sorted next weekend.

Removing the compbrake set up has freed up a lot more space in the bay. The brake lines will also be re routed out of the bay.

I will be making an alloy plate to rest my feet on next. Hoping the new set up works better than the old one!
The next part of the brakes was to sort the discs. It was just running on some crap pattern discs that fitted under 15" wheels. I had a measure up and ordered 4 315mm AP racing discs to go under the 16" wheels. Then I machined some alloy bells to the same offset as the patern discs so I could use the same brackets with a spacer.

Nice and tight!

Next it was onto machining some rear caliper brackets for the porsche calipers which I milled them on the laithe.

Rears fitted up:

Again couldn't get any bigger brakes in!

So thats where its up to. The wiring is almost finished and its ready for an MOT. The mapping will hopefully be happening in the first couple of weeks in May.Leave a comment:
