Not 100% decided on ECU's yet. I was made up on using Autronic but I might be swayed towards something else. It depends on who is going to do the mapping.

Sounds like an offer you can't refuse... I'd take Motec (let alone the support...) anytime over Autronic. I like the setup of the SM4 ecu package but it still is quite limited for the price IMHO.
How are you going to change alternator belts when using the propshaft to power it?
Awesome build so far!Comment

Yep been in contact with Dave and lets hope we can sort some motec out for it. The new M84 ecu looks to be a nice unit.
As for the alternator belt I was hoping not to change it that often realy? It would have to be propshaft off to change the belt which isn't that big a job.Comment

great project some serious cash been spent however after making it look so good dont use p clips they look crap ( you never see p clips on a proffesionally built competition car ) small white cable tie saddles 3mm counter sunk rivets white tiny cable ties each saddle 150 mm apart is the future they would look invisable better than a ugly p clip ! just my opinion every thing else great , you getting downpipe coated ? that close to wheel arch paint wont stay white for longComment

Yes, the maps look promising, but the preliminary data out there is that the gtx series are not spooling faster than the regular gt. I was really looking forward to the release, but they have been somewhat disappointing thus far. So the 30r makes the same power as the 35r with the billet 11 blade wheel, but it also spools a lot like a 35r. So what is the point of that? Why not just have a 35r?
The gtx3071r is making 3076 power, but it spools a few hundred rpm later than the regular 30r... So why not use the 30r?
The beauty of the hta turbos are that they are spooling 500-600 rpm sooner than regular gt turbos, and them make just as much power, if not more. The added weight of the 11 blade seems to have make for a higher compressor area at the expense of rotating mass, aka spool.
Anywho, I'll be on the dyno this weekend with the hta35r. I'll update you. If you want me to do it via PM, let me know. I figure this information dumping of parts you have purchased are relevant, but if you want it kept off your thread, let me know via pm.1981 URQuattro with the TIAL GT35r.

Not bothered about peope posting anything one here as long as its constructive! Its great to get some insight about what to expect from the turbo!
So little update to keep things up to date. I have had half the fittings and hose delivered, which is to do all the fuel lines. The oil lines are to follow at the end of the month as they had to be ordered in. Everything is from Torques who sell on ebay. Got a superb deal on the bulk order and he has been super helpful if anybody else is looking for a supplier. The hose is all PTFE lined to stop the fuel vapours from getting out. The fittings are all swivel ones and in black as I think the blue and red looks slightly tacky!
So starting at the back of the car. Holley fuel pump lifts out of the ATL tank and this feeds the swirl pot through a pre filter. There are then twin bosch 044 10 bar fuel pumps pulling from there. They feed twin fuel filters and then into a Y piece. The swirl pot has a fuel sampling connection on the return to the tank. This means that at events the scrutineers can take a fuel sample by pushing on the dry break coupling.

From the boot the lines go through into the cabin using bulkhead fittings. The feed lines goes directly to the front bulkhead. The return goes through a cooler under the floor.

From inside the cabin it passes into the engine bay through more bulkhead fittings. Into the fuel rail, and then back around into the fuel pressure regulator. Excuse the mess, I haven't had a clean up since drilling all the holes!

So thats the fuel set up sorted apart from some tidying up and tieing down. I am aware some of the hoses need something wrapped around them to stop them wearing through other bits. Hopefully the fuel set up will be good for any power I need and shouldn't suffer from any surge.
I have picked up a couple of other bits recently, firstly a brand new clutch master cylinder, which had a HEL line made up for it when the brake lines were done:

Yesterday I also picked up a couple more 8" ronals, that gives me a couple of spares now. I think I will fit some drag racing tyres to them eventually.

So that brings everything upto date. The intercooler is due this coming week. That means I can get on with the boost pipes and get everything away for welding.Comment
