Well my car did not make it down to ADI due to a grumbling front wheel bearing, so here's the tale of the fix.

This is the old bearing I took out, it's a Ruville bearing bought from a well known Audi parts supplier and I'm guessing at the mileage, but it can't have done more than 10k miles

The outer seals were still intact but as you can see there is not a great deal of grease in there and looking closely at the face you can see where it's started to break up, causing the noise

Now, if you search for 'wheel bearing' on here, you'll find on almost every thread user Caterpillar banging on about putting this fancy Mobil grease in your new bearings, so I decided to get some. I couldn't get the grade he used, but after asking the local Mobil rep, he recommended this

So I striped the new bearing, FAG bearing this time. As you can see, still light on lubricant.

Cleaned out the old 'grease' which looked very much like Vaseline!

And re-packed them with Mobil's finest synthetic grease

The first test drive revealed that it's now as quiet as a mouse, so I'll be doing the other side when I get chance.

I'll report back on the long term benefits

Great looking curve, looks very driveable anywhere over 3000 rpm!

Nice curves. Remind me what turbo is that? My efr peaks the torque higher so power is flatter.

Now the long awaited dyno results, I was never bothered about it going on the dyno as my 'seat of the pants' dyno told me it was doing what I wanted it to , but I bowed to peer pressure and joined Danny at the DNA dyno day yesterday.

The first run we did gave 422bhp in 4th gear, but the dyno was shutting down at 90mph, we have a couple of tries with the same result so they had to switch it off and back on again. This left me heatsoaking nicely! When we tried again, same result, so this run was done in 3rd gear. After this the dyno was fine and nobody else had a problem

In case anybody asks about the boost not peaking until 4250rpm, I've set it like this with the boost controller, I can make it ramp and peak much quicker but in the lower gears it's too savage, it's much more drivable as it is. Besides It seems to be using the boost very efficiently, by 3000rpm it's making 250ft/lb of torque at only 045bar of boost, this is 100ft/lb more than a comparable 400bhp 2.2ltr car

I'm more than happy that it's achived my taget of 400bhp & 400ft/lb

Been buying more parts ready for the suspension re-build. These are Whiteline ARB drop links, let's see if they last any longer than stock items that I seem to replace at least once a year!

I also got a new steering arm mounting brkt from Jay at Dynamic Motorsport Developments, I'd wanted one of these since I saw the prototype he made for James's race car so when I saw he was doing a production run I made sure I was top of the list

Fitted this today, only been for a quick spin around the block so far, but the steering feel is much improved, some of this is I think down to the removal of the damper, but it feels more direct too.
