Yes, but his was using even more oil than mine! I've already checked, and he had the same 'low tension' oil control rings as me and some manufacturers ( Total Seal ) don't recommend them for street use. If I have to re-ring it, I think I'll go for std, tension rings.

I was 75% down the line with CP then went with JE in the end. The gapping was less than on the JE sheet as Aelred said the sheet was *expletive*

Interested to see the diagnosis with the engine. I bet your list of jobs to do triples during the next few weeks

Update time. Despite the fact that the car has run pretty much faultlessly for almost 12k miles now, it has always used a lot of oil and it seems to be getting worse. You can see it in the mirror at night ( not so much in the day ) and people who followed me have said it smokes a lot. I know JE pistons use a bit of oil but this is about double what other JE users are getting.
So, I’ve decied to pull the engine apart and see what’s up. This was the scene this morning

Just after lunch, the engine was out and back on the engine stand, I’m going to pull it apart and take it down to JNL racing and let JP have a look at it.

Whilst the engine is out and being fixed, the rolling shell is off to Brian Tonks and he is going to do the following work:-
-Fit ABY battery tray under rear seat
    -Fit new braided fuel lines
    -Fit vacuum assist to brakes
-Weld up hole in drivers side inner wing
    -Relocate ABS unit to firewall
-Finally, once all that is done, Tom will re-paint the whole engine bay.

That's not too bad, might get some on order.

About £25 a a pair. I ordered them a few weeks ago, they're not listed as NLA but they have to come direct from the supplier and I'm still waiting

Haha, funny I was considering this mod a couple of nights ago but using the motorised pop-up jets... yours seems more sensible
How much were the RS2 jets rougly Andy?

OK, ignoring the fact that it looks like the engine has got to be stripped again I decided to do some work on the bodywork!

I've never liked the std headlight washers, so I've decided to remove them and replace with RS2 ones.
    This is before

    Looking a bit sad

Holes now filled and primed, as soon as the washer jets come from Audi I'll re-drill them and paint the whole bumper

I also fitted the Cupra R splitter that's been in the garage for about 2 years

I think it looks much better now.
