First couple of panels re-trimmed in faux alcantara and grab handles painted satin black

This upholstery lark is tricky, I'm not looking forward to doing the headlining!!

Glad you got the timing pin sorted in the end, sounds like it was a right PITA.
Anyway, looking forward to seeing you doing the headlining mate

Search for black alcantara-alicante on ebay.co.uk

I actually have some left at Brian's that he will be using for his S2 and perhaps a good amount to spare for myself if something needs redoing.

Not really much to update on this, the timing pin is fixed, ended up pulling the gearbox More info here

I'm going to leave it in it's current spec for a while and just enjoy driving it rather than working on it, although the headlining it knackered and kept droping down and blocking the rear view so I pulled that out

I've ordered some samples of black fake alcantara off Ebay, then I'll either paint or wrap the plastic trim panels to match.

Also fitted a glass sunroof whilst the headlining was out

Bad luck Andy... I thunk though the pin can be welded back on on the spot by removing the starter. That's how my mechanics did it back home when vems would not see the small 7a pin. You would probably need to raise the car to do it though
