static covers for dirt track applications seem to work fine in combination with preoiled filters like K&N http://www.knpowersports.com/wraps.htm
Don't know about ITG, but Pipercross makes a similar product. They are fine if you want maximum airflow, but for dirt applications they have to be cleaned after every raceday. Good thing is they are washable in an ordinary washing machine.

Difference is that racing engines get rebuild every season, and most of the S2's around here don't

Yeah posted ITG in post 331 however the only filter you see used by 034 and other high power S2's are the HKS

Well bram was running a K&N filter in the airbox and then tried a K&N filter directly both no good so think we can rule them out.

Anyhow this is for another thread kind of hijacking although i'm sure Bram would like to know some alternatives as well

Let's hope these morons stop copying your products and you earn the money that you deserve as originator of good design and reliability.

A virtual pint for you too!

Yes lets hope the morons will stop copying the original MTM intake manifold!

              Easy Buddy...

Sounds like that you don't Know what you are Talking about...
Both ours and mtm is based on the treser intake. Treser went out of business.
Traser intake was never designed to fit on aby or adu.
It's not about copying our stuff, it's about selling Copys under our name!

I hope you will understand this.

Whatever dude! Everyone is copying someone and not only on intakes! The question is where the best quality with the lowest price! This is what is of importance (to me at least).

                cheers

You have AEM dryflow 3.5" x 9" on the way.
Everything less than 2 bar is considered to be naturally aspirated

OK, cool. You have it in stock already?

Now I can start to make the "filter housing"

What is the smallest diameter in your inlet traject upto your compressor inlet? What did you measure in the airfilter box? Near to absolute vacuum? It that's true the following is true:
600hp roughly means you consume 0,65 cubic meters of air per second.
Air choking starts around the max speed of air (~330m/s @ 20 degrees C).
So if you calculate that back then a max. area of 1970cm^2 would be limiting, effectivly being a diameter of 50mm.

Compressor inlet is like what, 3" ? Keep the entire inlet path upto the compressor inlet at that diameter and you must be fine IMHO.

Changing cam timing will result in a completely different (offboost) engine, and higger offboost power (= more turbine energy) will enhance turbo upspool.
                        Hi

We measured 1.5-2.0 Kpa vacuum with the Airbox and K&N filter inside in 5th gear pulls till red-line. The K&N open air filter made the Filter Minder go into the red zone (2.5 KPa), but my guess is that this filter was even more restrictive as it already went so far on 3th gear pulls. I have not yet tested the K&N open air filter in higher gears, as I had to go to Germany for that on the autobahn, which was not adding any thing extra to the mapping.

                        Thanks for your compliments btw.

Nice going Bram/Jyrki! Do you have any dyno plots to share? Great idea on the airbox suction meter, there is power to be had when you have too much suction in the airbox housing.

how about a BMC CDA carbon filter.

i have seen these on a few track cars and some heavily tuned motors, allow for good fast flow, but i believe they are pretty loud.
