What makes you think the wheel bearings are shot out of interest?

Good to see progress is being made.

It's making a funny grinding noise from down below - which is a seperate noise from the brakes. Having had one collapse, I know what it's like... Sooner get it changed for peace of mind!

sounds like the cars coming along nicely, new lights on the front does make a big difference, I put brand new ellipsoids on my 3b, one of the best things i've even done. I've also seen brand new foglight cases on fitzy's avant which makes it stand out more.

Yeah, just the reflectors are a state on my projectors and as you can't buy just those (barstewards!) I've got to replace the lot...

Right, sod it. At the end of this month then some serious money is going at it:

Engine and gearbox are coming out. Both to be rebuilt - the engine with uprated internals designed to take up to 500bhp and lots of torques. Turbo-wise I'm going to go for a hybrid GT2871R, mated to an 034 IM (matched) and a ported/flowed head. Intercooler will be a Wagner item, and the exhaust is an RS2 downpipe with the exhaust from ProSpeed with a TIAL wastegate. Crossmember will be standard, but refurbished.

Gearbox side the clutch will be going for a Stage 3 Spec item, along with a fully rebuilt set of internals with fresh fluids, all bolted to the car on uprated mounts.

Suspension, all arms will be completely blasted back to bare metal, seam welded, powdercoated and polybushed, as with the subframes (front and rear). The differentials will be cleaned up, refurbished where necessary and all of it will be attached to the floor through KW coilovers.

Bodywork will be resprayed - will be getting quotes for bare metal respray, and choose from there. It doesn't hugely need it but there are bits that stand out to me so I'd rather get it all done properly and put away.

Inside the car, I'm going to source all the bits for the heated seats, and the stereo is coming out in it's entirety to be replaced by a dash pocket. Seats will be treated, all the rails cleaned and repainted where necessary and put back on the standard (but cleaned) carpets...

Anyone want to lend me a hand telling me where I'm best to get all this done? Money isn't a huge object but I'm not going to throw it away. Most I can justify letting go is about £12-15k.

Oh, and the headlights are being replaced and HID'd, and the trims for them/under the bonnet are being sourced! Lol!

Brakes-wise it's already got the Porsche conversion, going to get the calipers serviced and repainted (not sure what logo to go on as yet - most likely the Brembo logo) and the discs all round will be Tarox G88s clamped by Ferodo DS2500s...

                Crikey..

I know that Aelred and a few others on the forum are more than capable of a full engine rebuild, so it might be worth having a word with them. I had my gearbox refurbished by a local guy who's done all the work on my car, but i am based up in the lake district.

I imagine youll want to find local outfits who can do what you require, a reputable bodyshop sounds like a good bet

Local outfits aren't such an issue - with the amount of work I'm looking at I'll take the car somewhere to get it done perfectly rather than do it locally to get it quite good...

Im just thinking ive always found it better to keep it under as little roofs as possible - good people are hard to find!

Also, youd have more opportunity to make sure things were progressing correctly... no quattro-named business mentioned

Fair enough! Keep them coming - I've just basically scoured the forums to choose what seems like best for me! I full well accept that there are people out there who know better and that's why I'm here

Anyone in the Midlands know of a **** hot bodyshop? I'm looking to part with up to £3k for the bodywork if it includes the underside...

£3k for a bare metal respray? i'd look into that as I'd have thought it would be at least double that, if not more for a decent one unfortuantely. Will holman's respray to his (admitted it was a classic capri) car by a decent company was somewhere in the region of 8k and that did not include the underside but they straightened everything needed doing (ding's etc) and sorted some rust and gave it a brilliant respray.

The stage 3+ (full carbon sintered disc) has been great on my 360RS2 setup and seems to be dealing very well with the GT3071. It is also a dream to drive with and easy in traffic, I did bed it in carefully, I always do with clutches and it usually pays off. The stage 3 (paddle clutch) was a nightmare though, basically an on off switch , screeched like a banshee and made your left leg shake like the morning after a bad week...
