Got some paint on it now, looks much fresher. Got to detail the letters yet but once complete I'm hoping it'll look better than OEM!

      Looking good mate!

So glad I sold it to you and not some bum who'd have mistreated her!

Must say though - how deep are your pockets! Keep it going, nice to see a perfectly modified/conditioned car.

Ah, I'm sure the pink chavalier is serving you well! The pockets aren't that deep, I've just tensed up looking at the price of the discs and pads I want! (Tar.Ox G88 and Pagid Blue), plus I'm going to replace the rear calipers and handbrake cable, rear brake lines, and get the Porsche Brembos serviced!

Then it's chassis time, which is most orange... Fun!

Nah - not by those! I've just emailed the nice people at Wilwood to see if they'd be interested in turning their new caliper (hydraulic + cable actuated parking brake) into a kit for the S2 Coupe... :mischeif:

Anyone got the best way of getting the car off the deck (completely!) so that I can pull both subframes off at the same time? Needs to be sturdy as I'll have to use 'reasonable force' to persuade them off, so I've been advised that Axle stands aren't the best idea. Stacks of planks or something?

I'd say axle stands would be better than a stack of planks, but you are right using 4 is not ideal. I won't advise you to stack up both ends simultaneously as it can be dangerous, but all i will say is that i have done it many times before whilst hammering away at various things and had no problems, luckily!

If you can, do one end at a time. Don't use bricks or anything though as i have BTDT, ended up with a large dent in the chassis when the whole thing collapsed.

Trouble I've got is if I do the GB for the shocks they're on an exchange basis - send mine in, wait 4-6 weeks, get new ones back. Bit stuffed really!

I can't see the problem with STURDY axle stands designed for the job, however, if you are taking both subframes off, I am not totally sure where you would be able to locate them.

Don't forget the S2 is over 1500kg, so don't be buying any of those "chocolate" axle stands, you need the 2 ton plus ones...

*usual disclaimer applies, do it at your own risk etc, don't blame me if you get flattened...*

Best of luck, and post up some photo's.

                    Cheers,

                    Steve.

True, that is an ***, all i can say is deffo use axle stands and just make damn well sure they are seated properly on the chassis and they aren't tilting or anything. You should be ok.

I agree you should be ok with 4, you're just not supposed to thats all.

You can support on the chassis fine.

And really, there's got to be something out there that's designed for this sort of thing... All an axle stand would need is a decent reach and then it'd be stable!

Get some proper axle stands, not the Halfrauds ones, the ones that look like they could support a house! Be careful where you put them, avoid the sills IMO as you could dent then. Undo the SF bolts the first 1/4 turn on the ground so you're not having to put so much torque through the car in the air. The other bolts are not in the sideways plane so are easier to do, strut to hub bolts for example. Take the driveshafts out and rtemove the whole axle, means you can replace the CV boots if required and clean up the hubs and get then painted ot powder coated. POR15 is supposed to be the stuff.
