Actually the more I think about it the more I'm pointing at the lights - when I used it the first time after the charge it was daylight so no lights needed. The time before it flattened itself it was at night and with scooby lights you don't have to turn them off at the stalk as the turn off with the ignition so I almost certainly left them "on" and maybe that was enough to make the difference?

Yeah the DV (finally) turned up today (5 working day delivery my ****!) so will see about getting it in to Rich for some more experimentation.
Really not sure on the battery, it's not an especially old one - I replaced it maybe 3 years ago and it's a decent brand so not sure what's going on. I'd had it off the car for a full charge after it had gone flat whilst being stood and it fired up beautifully, used it 5 days later for a good long run without issue then came back to it after another two days and it was too low to start
Headunit and alarm are original - probably the only aftermarket electronics on it is the tracker which it's had since well before I bought it and the lights. TBH I think the lights are the culprit as despite having the damn things rewired about 3 times they STILL go wonky occasionally - my theory is a dodgy connection that's shorting?Leave a comment:

Yeah i saw your PH post.
Definitely try the points you mentioned... and i feel your pain on the battery.
I'd say either something like the headunit draining power if its after market, or a dead battery if you've run it down and had to jump it a few times. The temperature has been getting colder remember.Leave a comment:

Cool
You're doing better than me anyway. I've got a couple more straws to clutch at to see if I can get it boosting right but **** knows what I'll do if it doesn't sort it.
If (and it feels like a very big "if") I can get the boost issue sorted then I can start to worry about the bodywork and little niggles like why it decides to randomly drain it's battery

The car is setup brilliantly though so i'm in no rush.. they're more "wants" than "needs" as most of the other stuff has been to get the car working and running correctly.
Paintwork and bodywork due this winter.Leave a comment:

I can certainly sympathise with the all too familiar constraints of the wallet
I still think you'll crumble at some point though! When's the bodywork happening?Leave a comment:

The thing is, besides the paint, which has already been accounted for, i cant... Funds will no longer allow any further expenditure.Leave a comment:

Apart from the paint and bodywork.
And the water meth kit.
And the cams.
And the single-mass flywheel conversion....Leave a comment:
