Have you tried getting a price off Bosch or a Bosch dealer like Andrew Page? I bought the whole MAF inc housing and only paid around £120 for it.

If the smoke is black - it means the pope has not yet been elected...maybe that is the problem...maybe your vehicle is not in tune with religious events?

the centre unscrews if you get the bosch item, common thing to do on the rs4 running larger mafs 90-100mm they use the stock element in the new maf housing

Indeed they can hardly complain about that! Seems an expensive way to get a new sensor however it might be the only or easiest way.

Take the exchange item. Unscrew the sensor (you need security torx). Swap your old sensor into the brand new housing, and give it back to them.

There is a pic of the RS4 MAF housing with correct part numbers for reference.

Volvo T4 started dumping clouds of black smoke out of the exhaust and would not drive/idle...turned out to be a water temperature sensor failure and it was causinng the ECU to overfuel the engine...maybe something similar is occurring!
