I would say that flywheel is too light if you are going to have any everyday use. You want it around 8kg
5kg is similar to the Fidanza flywheel which was not very nice in the S2, ex parts daddy can give you a verdict as he had one in his car.

Is your bottom end zero balanced? Flywheel will make a nice difference to pickup in 1/2/3 but going that light might make idle a little lumpy.
Are you going to run both 7A cams, or just the exhaust? Other option is to get some NM cams from the 2.0 20V.Leave a comment:

The beauty of it is i already have most of the parts and it should be very cost-effective
The brakes and gearbox need doing regardless, i can't drive the car properly until this is done.
The flywheel is being replaced because the gearbox is out anyway, so very cost-effective.
I have the cams etc, so again just installation costs, and the RS2 exhaust cam will hopefully recoup some costs.
If i change the inlet then the rs2 airbox sale will do the same.
The map will need to be tweaked for the cams, so a good time to do the WMI, which in-itself is a very cost-effective modification
Mostly, it's just labour costs

Planned for the very near future...
Front brakes - either need to have the calipers rebuilt if there is a sticky piston or might have warped a disc already after my Wales trip.
Gearbox - need to drop it and open it to look but likely requires new synchro's to stop the grinding from 3rd to 2nd also exhibited on the Wales trip.
Flywheel - going to swap to a lightened 5.2kg billeted steel flywheel supplied by VRS whilst the box is out, replacing my heavy dual-mass unit but keeping the Southbend clutch i already have.
Cams / pulley - i'll be swapping the rs2 exhaust cam and vernier pulley for 7a cams and aby pulley. The rs2 setup has caused me no end of hassle and money and i believe to be the cause of my "low" top-end figures.
WMI - I have an Aquamist kit that'll be fitted for water-meth injection, bringing down IAT's and providing a little extra oomph!
Inlet - currently i have an RS2 airbox with K&N paper filter (after the Pipercross foam one was destroyed inside 6 months) but i'm not certain if this is a restriction. I quite like the airbox, but will test to see if a cone-filter + heatshield would be better and remove a possible inlet restriction at top-end.
Brakes - The RL handbrake is sticking and i'd like something bigger, with the obviously upgrade being the monoblock rear coupe setup with separate handbrake caliper, but this is going to have to wait due to funds.
The map will be tweaked for the cams, WMI and possible inlet changes and then it'll be good to go - hopefully pushing more around the 460-480bhp range (vs 431 on the last dyno) with the same 600Nm torque.Leave a comment:

It's all in your head.
The only place where there could be any difference whatsoever, is on top of the rpm range, and that's only in theory.
The reason being the engine is an air pump, and all limitations of flow on the intake side show up where flow is the highest, that is at and past the peak hp point, which will be around 6000rpm.Leave a comment:

Pickup is much better than with ABY box, even the lag is reduced in the sense that response when on and off boost is much more immediate and feels that much more urgent
Well mostly I've noticed the added intake noise as well, I quite like it

I love the upgrade of the RS2 airbox vs the ABY one, makes such a difference

Measure the pressure drop pre-turbo if you are so inclined, I am quite sure that there is no restriction there.Leave a comment:
