Here's some slightly better pic's, I'm not quite happy with the NS headlamp and bumper alignment but it's close to being right another coupe of hours fiddling should sort it. The rear bumper is fastened to the arch fixings with cable tie ATM as the brackets are knackered so is not sitting right, it needs replacing anyway as I reversed into something years ago and put a split in it.

I like it all colour coded bud. Not seen another Emerald Green car all coded like The Polishing Frenchmans one is/was. Looking good, plus your front bumper is better aligned than mine.

        Cheers mate,

I quite like the colour coding as well, just wish the finish was better it's been done OK but not great. Its also several slightly different shades of Emerald green as it's had paint and the wings and bonnet are from two other cars, still I'm happy enough with it for now, at some point down the line I'd like to paint it myself.

Going to treat it to some new number plates, I find they help freshen a cars appearance up no end

Hmm, yeah perhaps I shouldn't have said that and tempted fate

Got a couple of minor things to sort out, the ABS light comes on at about 40 MPH, reckon a sensor wants a tweek so not concerned about that. The oil temp gauge goes round to flat out as soon as the needle starts to move, there's no way on earth I believe it but I tried another sender and no change so I guess it's the gauge itself, again not concerned about it but I'd rather have it working so I'll have to try another gauge.

I also think the screamer pipe maybe a little OTT, wound it round to over 6K RPM briefly in second today and it's deafening, it must sound terrifying to other road users, especially pedestrians and horses so I'm going to have a look at plumbing it back into the system. Need a couple of flanges before I can do anything about it and I'm glad I kept my wastegate flexi pipe now, nearly sold it a little while ago.

Gave the Corrado a good service today as well as sorting out the water pump so I only got an hour or so to work on the S2, flushed the cooling system out and sorted out the all the lights back and front, grills, horn, wiper arms and washer jets. If I fitted the handbrake cables SteveH sent me it would pass an MOT but I've got a days work to do on the floor pad first which I must do now or it'll never get done.

Tracking is the next priority, I can get it better than it is but need to find somewhere that I trust to set it up properly within a hundred miles of home, suggestions welcome.

                  Looking good.

You must be getting excited about getting it MOT now.

Floor pad? (and what are you doing to it?)

Did you just fancy trying the screamer? I have seen people put motorbike silencers on a screamer, but it seems like more hassle that its worth to me.

                    Cheers Andy.

The floor pan has lots of patches of surface rust where the underseal has been damaged over years a lot of it by remedial mechanics with jacks, so I want to deal with it now and not have to worry about welding years down the line. I've already done a lot of the prep so another good day on it would see it and the fuel lines protected for the foreseeable future.

I am quite excited about getting it MOT'd, be good to be able to take it for a proper blast

I was always a bit skeptical about the screamer, but that's how the down pipe came and it was a good deal, I figured when I got it if I don't like it I can always plump it back it in as per the OE arrangement. After hearing how loud mine is I don't think a bike silencer would make enough difference to be worth the effort of fitting it.

Your oil temp behavior sounds like you've wired it into a temp switch rather than a temp sender? Just a thought...

Yeah that is how the gauge is behaving, just like its wired to a switch, but I'm sure the oil temp gauge reads from the sender under the pressure relief valve on the oil pump and there's only the one wire going to that so its idiot proof. I thought it had to be a duff sender but like I say no change with another, suppose that one could be dead as well but its very unlikely, I'll borrow another gauge and try that next.

Yes mate be good to meet up for a blast around mid Wales, I'm meeting up with Sonic on the 3rd of November, give me a shout if you want to meet up at mine before catching up with Andy. I'll probably be in my Corrado but the S2 may just be MOT'd and tracked up on time, we'll see, my farther might tag along in his RS6 as well.

Cheers for the compliment on the car mate

Did these today, should have taken some pic's along the way but didn't really get time, it's pretty fiddly. The 'leather' was hanging off so I removed it completely then hoovered all foam from the back as well as peeling the sticky plastic backing from the card itself, then I gave both the surfaces a quick wipe with panel wipe. I couldn't be bothered with trying to use that foam back stuff so I Tiger sealed the covering straight to the card. I used books and weights to put pressure on it and wedged the edges in place with some thick speaker wire to hold them down into the grove until the T-seal has gone off. They seem to have come out pretty well, obviously I'm going to be removing the white speaker wire but I'd rather leave them over night before I do that. I'm confident it won't peel off again anyway.
