    Yesterday wasn't a good day

    First I couldn't drain the oil as the sump plug is rounded, (like this from before when I had to put it back in so I could get it mapped)

    I have a new bung to put in and planned to change with this oil drop, but my previous methods of mole grips and hammer didnt work. Tried some plus gas and heat too.

    In the end I sucked the oil out using my vacuum fluid extractor just so I could remove the turbo.

    Turbo is off. I will post some comparison photos of the two turbos later on.

    However, when moving and taking off the exhaust turbine on the new turbo I somehow managed to let the centre hosuing and compressor hosuing fall on the floor.

    Careless! Can't believe I managed to do this!

    As a result I think the tips of two exhaust turbine blades may be bent over slightly.

    All I can say is at least it wasnt the fancy billet comp that may be damaged.

    Unless I am imagining it? Inconel is pretty hard isn't it?

    GT3071R turbine for comparison;

    I also have a video:

    *Phone wont upload to youtube, will do this evening*

    what do you think?

    All I can say is oh B*lleux!!!

    What now, take it somewhere for them to check the balance and take a look??

    any recommnedations of a Garett agent near Essex?

    Looks good. The 2 maps on the one scale show just how big an improvement in surge and low down boost compared to the 71r. That combined with the smaller turbine will really help response and still do 400 to 450 hp at a push.

    Well here she is....

    Arrived today, good service from ATP;

    The old one is very nearly off, and later on this week/weekend time permitting I hope to start fitting. It looks like I will need to remove the exhaust housing and swivel it around to keep the same oil and water lines locations.

    What is the correct torque for these turbinr housing to centre assy bolts? Not sure If I can get a torque wrench in there anyway...

    Not sure if my downpipe will need tweeking much or of the general fit, fingers crossed.

    Also here's an overlay of the two maps that I found on the internet;

    Both of those might alleviate the issue somewhat... well, we will see how it goes.

    What cam and head setup?
    On stock head with stock cams even a 3071/0.63 is a surge monster in higher gears.

    No I have the 034 atp style kkk24 0.63 turbine housing on a rs2 manifold. I have vems setup to limmit boost slightly before 3k rpm. That's the only surge area. With the 67 I recon you could run 1.75 bar plus at 3k rpm.

    The 67 is a much smaller wheel, both on inducer and exducer than the 71. It's just its extended tip billet design that allows it to flow the same, but with less surge. The other gtx turbos are all different. Similar surge to the gt version, but more flow. This 67 is the reverse.

Overlay the two maps, the 56 trim 71 and the new 67 and you will see. Also the 67 has the anti surge housing so you should be able to run off the left of the map slightly without getting into dangerous surge.
    You are on a 0.82 housing though, aren't you?
